Make Up First School, Chicago:
Make Up First ®, LLC is currently the only comprehensive, certificate program in Illinois dedicated solely to the art of makeup. The School provides an intensive series of makeup artistry classes, which result not only in the issuance of a certificate of completion from the school, but also from the State of Illinois. We are located in the center of Chicago, next to Grant Park. Make Up First School is a MAC-approved school. All courses are taught in a lecture/hands-on workshop format, thereby providing the students with much-needed application practice. In addition to the five core certification courses, Basic Makeup, Media Makeup, Theatrical Makeup, Clinical Makeup and Careers In Makeup Artistry, students have the opportunity to enroll in advanced classes for on-going education in the field of makeup artistry. The School offers monthly, hands-on seminars in Airbrush and Bridal Makeup as well as Workshops in Fx, Transgender Makeup, Hairstyling for Makeup Artists and other areas.

From the initial class to the final class, students are encouraged to use information taught to further explore their creative potential. The atmosphere is casual; yet the learning experience is invaluable to the training of makeup artistry.

Upon successful completion of Basic Makeup, Media Makeup, Theatrical Makeup, Clinical Makeup and Careers In Makeup Artistry, a Certification of Completion wilPhoto of Make-up Artist Classes in Chicago, Illinoisl be issued by the School. The School warrants that it is currently recognized as an Illinois state certificated vocational school for the training of professional makeup artists.

Basic Makeup:

Basic makeup is the prerequisite for all courses taught in the school. Fundamental principles such as light and color theory, contouring and highlighting, together with facial anatomy will be taught. Makeup kit selection and application techniques will be discussed, demonstrated and then practiced.

Media Makeup:
Techniques for makeup application for various forms of media including television, film, video and print, will be taught. Lighting, color vs. black and white, period makeup and other issues will be addressed. Emphasis will be placed upon contour and corrective techniques necessary to create the desired image for the camera.

Theatrical Makeup:
Students will learn theatrical makeup application in view of the “house”, the lighting, and the character created. The course includes work with wigs. Also included is the art of aging and otherwise altering characters, as well as body art (cuts, bruises, scars).

Clinical Makeup: Basic Science of the Skin Makeup
:
Students will learn both the structure and function of the skin. Skin types as well as conditions, wImage of Make-up Artist Classes in Chicago, Illinoisill be assessed. Makeup appropriate for each skin type and condition will be determined and then applied.

Careers In Makeup Artistry:
Students will be given tools and information necessary to pursue different career options in the field of makeup artistry. Students are encouraged to bring any portfolio or other promotional work for analysis, review and critique.

Airbrush Prerequisites Basic and Clinical:
Students will learn how to assemble lean, and use the airbrush “gun” and compressor. The students will be taught technique, and will be guided in the selection of foundations in order to create the highly sought -after, flawless airbrush makeup.

Bridal Prerequisites Basic and Media:

Students will combine their knowledge of basic and media makeup. In view of facial anatomy and the use of light, students will learn how to create the elegant, polished bride and bridal party. Media Makeup II Prerequisites Basic and Media:

Students will continue with advanced methods, techniques and applications suitable for each media format. In-depth emphasis will be placed on contour and corrective makeup techniques necessary to create the desired image for the camera.

Theatrical Makeup II Prerequisites Basic and Theatrical:

Students will continue to advance in theatrical makeup application. Attention will be paid toward fx, character aging and alteration. Wig making will also be taught.

Workshops:
Make Up First School offers not only a Certificate Program and Advanced Courses; the School also offers monthly, hands-on seminars in Airbrush and Bridal Makeup. In addition, various workshops are offered throughout the year in Fx, Transgender Makeup, Hairstyling for Makeup Artists, Body Painting, Camouflage Makeup for Tattoos, Pin Up Makeup and Wig Making.
