Education Programs:
Saklan Valley School academic programs achieve two primary competing strands of contemporary education: high educational standards and rigorous academic challenges harmoniously blended with a culture of support, encouragement, and nurturing for the individual student.
Pre-school through to 8th grade programs:
- Early Childhood Program:
The curriculum is based on the belief that children learn best through active learning, direct hands-on experiences with people, objects, events, and ideas. Through play, art, music, science, stories, and themes, teachers provide children with a strong foundation of social problem solving, pre-math, and pre-writing skills.
- Elementary School Program:
We engage the minds of our students in an excellent academic program that provides challenging, thought-provoking, and comprehensive learning both in the classroom and through exploration of our region and our world.
Lower Elementary Program (K-1-2):
The beginning of formal academics and love of learning is expanded through thematic units. Integrating all subjects facilitates students’ learning by making connections across the curriculum. This style of interactive learning enhances classroom enthusiasm, involvement between home, and school, and awareness of subject matter in the real world.
Upper Elementary Program (3-4-5):
Built upon the foundation laid in the Lower Elementary program, the Upper Elementary utilizes an engaging, integrated approach to honing reading, writing, and arithmetic skills of increasing sophistication. Reading comprehension, written and oral expression, imaginative and creative development, science and technology, and critical thinking are all emphasized in these important learning years.
Students work closely with the their teachers to develop social skills, and to take increasing responsibility for their learning and for their school community and environment.
- Middle School Program:
The main goal of our Middle School is to prepare students for the academic and personal challenges of high school. Our objective is to help students meet the highest academic standards with their confidence, self-discipline and self-esteem firmly in place.
* Subjects include: Mathematics, Language Arts, Spanish, Social Studies, Humanities, Science, Foreign Languages, Music & Physical Education
