The Saklan School, Pre-K Through 8:
Saklan Valley School is an accredited, non-sectarian, non-profit, co-educational day school educating students in preschool through to 8th grade. We are located in Moraga in the Lamorinda area of Contra Costa County in the San Francisco Bay Area, just ten minutes from Orinda and the Orinda BART station, and only 15-20 minutes from Oakland and Berkeley to the west, El Sobrante to the north, Pleasant Hill, Concord and Martinez to the north-east, and Walnut Creek and Alamo to the east. Saklan Valley School can be reached conveniently from most towns in the East Bay.
Saklan Valley School is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and are members of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the East Bay Independent School Association (EBISA).
Saklan has a program of academic excellence, with our test scores matching or exceeding those of the national independent school averages in all sections. Saklan is distinguished by its small class sizes, which are capped at 16 (K-8), and currently average about 13 students per class. Our program also features excellent foreign language, physical education, visual and performing arts, and technology curricula. Our faculty has an average teaching experience of twelve years.
Our mission is to challenge students to think creatively, act compassionately and live courageously.
Saklan Valley School academic programs achieve two primary competing strands of contemporary education: high educational standards and rigorous academic challenges harmoniously blended with a culture of support, encouragement, and nurturing for the individual student.

Saklan Valley School is proud of its long commitment to diversity in its student body and faculty. We are proud of our student body: They represent the best of the diverse East Bay, drawn to Saklan from across our region with a radius as long as fifteen miles to the east, fifteen to the north, and ten to the west. Unlike local public schools which draw only from the immediate community, Saklan draws families from much farther reaches of the East Bay, including Oakland, Berkeley, Hercules, Richmond, Martinez and Concord.
