Sotogrande International School, Cadiz:
Sotogrande International School is located in Sotogrande, San Roque, Cádiz in Andalusia, southern Spain, 90 kilometres west of Málaga airport and 20 kilometres east of Gibraltar. We offer students an experience that will open their hearts and minds, expand their horizons and create for them a wealth of opportunities. We are an IB (International Baccalaureate) World School, accredited by CIS and NEASC and authorised as a British international school through NABSS and the British Council in Spain. Our programmes are in English.
We celebrate achievement and aim for the highest academic standards.
The importance of learning has never been greater in our rapidly changing society and we are committed to providing our internationally mobile students with the personal characteristics, skills and knowledge to enter the global community fully prepared to accept the challenges, and respond to the complexities, that they will encounter.
At SIS, students follow programmes that expose them not only to the academic disciplines but also to a wide range of other educational opportunities. Through a rich diversity of experiences we aim to develop in students a spirit of adventure and discovery, a sense of social and environmental responsibility and an intercultural understanding. Through our pastoral and social programme, students receive advice and guidance to help them through the sometimes difficult path to maturity and adulthood and enable them to make sound moral judgements along the way. We want our students to be the leaders of tomorrow committed to the ideals of peace, integrity, fairness and compassion.

At Sotogrande International school, the boarding house is primarily a home from home, a place of fun for IB students where there is always something going on!
The boarding staff are committed, friendly and professional individuals comprised of two dedicated boarding parents, assisted by a gap student, who are responsible for the happiness and welfare of the boarders, something which is taken very seriously indeed. The happiness of the boarding house depends on the happiness of individual boarders and on the caring relationships that are built between the boarders themselves and the house parents. The boarding house is relatively small and this enables staff to know and understand the students as individuals.
The school offers both weekly and full boarding services which cover all of the things that parentswould normally provide if they were available, including medical care with a nurse on site during school hours and access to a flying doctor service after school hours, help with homework activities (one of the boarding parents is an IB teacher), trips and activities and, of course, care and support in a family environment.
Accommodation:
SIS works hard to make the transition from home to the school as smooth as possible, especially if a child is coming from overseas. The accommodation in boarding is comfortable and pleasant and each student has their own room or shares with another student of the same age. Each boarder has their own private space for their belongings, a built in wardrobe and desk and a single bed.
There is a communal area which consists of a large living room complete with sofas, a large plasma screen, video and dvd players; a small kitchen area where boarders can make their own drinks and toast etc and a study area complete with two internet ready computers. Students are encouraged to do their own laundry and there are washing and ironing facilities for their use.
IB students will variously be involved in all or some of the following trips and activities, depending on their subject choices and interests:
• Musicians´ writing weekend with Arthur Brown
• Tarifa creative writing camping weekend
• History trip to London
• Theatre Arts trip to London
• CAS trip to Asni in Morocco
• Science trip to Geneva
• Economics competition at Pamplona University
• Visual Arts trip to Granada
• Summer trip to Seva Trust orphanage in Goa
