Student Life:
For young artists, nothing is better than living and learning alongside others who share a passion for the creative. Students have countless opportunities to perform and share their work with others. In turn, they enjoy and learn from the work of their peers, who are some of the most dedicated young artists in the world.

With support and encouragement from friends, faculty and well-known guest artists, Academy students find time for self-discovery and growth. They find a place where they can be themselves.

Fine Arts Boarding Programs for Students in Grades 9-12:

The academic curriculum includes courses in math, sciences, English, history, political science and world language. Courses are rigorous and often meet or exceed honors or advanced placement levels. Boarding students at Interlochen Arts Academy live in one of six residence halls. We also provide a summer arts camp and an adult arts program. School features include:

The Academy's six residence halls have common areas, practice rooms, work spaces and laundry facilities. Hall managers and counselors life in the residence halls. Together with housemothers who reside on campus, the student life professionals foster a supportive atmosphere and create an extended family for students.

Members of the trained residence life staff work closely with students to make the halls welcoming, safe and constructive environments. The campus is a safe, residential setting where students learn independence and self-reliance sooner than their peers attending other schools - a real advantage when preparing for college.

International Students:

Interlochen Arts Academy values its international population and strives to both educate and learn from our diverse student population blending cultures artistically and educationally into our program.

In the past we have welcomed students from Germany, Sweden, Japan, Korea, Israel, Australia, Chile, Columbia and many other countries.

Academic and College Counseling:
The Academic and College Counseling professional staff is integral in the creation of the schedule matrix and course selection for both new and returning students to meet graduation requirements as well as post-secondary application requirements.

Each Academy student is provided the opportunity to meet with their assigned counselor for credit appraisal, long range course selection and post high school planning.

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)
Courses / Programs
Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from Michigan and across the United States.

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.

Located just to the west of Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin, Conserve School is a non-sectarian semester school for high school juniors that focuses on environmental education.

Semester school is a term used to describe a boarding school that complements a student’s secondary education by providing them with the opportunity to step out of their regular school for half an academic year and step into a uniquely different educational setting while continuing their required academic studies.

The Leelanau School
