Located in Orchard Lake, Michigan, just 30 minutes northwest of Detroit, St. Mary's Preparatory is a fully accredited, Catholic, all-boys, college preparatory high school serving students in Grades 9-12. Saint Mary's Preparatory is a four year secondary program designed help develop our residents into men, men of character, integrity, and self-discipline. The Boarding Program gives our residents their first experience of being away from home and living in an academic community.
St. Mary's Preparatory is a Catholic, all-boys, college preparatory high school with a Polish-American heritage and legacy. Our mission is to provide deserving young men the moral guidance, discipline, and education necessary to become Christian gentlemen, scholars, and men of service and leadership for the world.
By completion of our spiritual and educational model, these men can gain the fortitude, reverence, character, and preparation to meet all challenges for the greater glory of God and their alma mater.
Our History:
The Academic Building of the Michigan Military was constructed in 1877 and was described in an 1891 publication as "one of the most complete school buildings in the West."
The building still serves as an Academic Center for St. Mary's Preparatory. Among those who attended classes here were Edgar Rice Burroughs, author of Tarzan, and Frank Joslyn Baum, whose father wrote The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
It is the mission of the St. Mary’s Preparatory Boarding Program to help develop our residents into men, men of character, integrity, and self-discipline based on the principle of Christian charity.
The Boarding Program gives our students the opportunity to prepare; to enter college with the basic survival skills and study habits necessary to be successful in a college setting or any other educational institution.
The Boarding Program also gives our residents their first experience of living away from home in a community. Our primary goals as a staff is to help our students thrive academically grow spiritually; develop personally, socially, emotionally, and physically.
Through the direction and guidance of the Residence Staff, consisting of the Dean of Residence and Resident Advisors, residents will learn the responsibilities and duties of living in a community environment.
The unique opportunity of participating in a boarding program enables residents to take advantage of a “live-in” mentoring system, where they will be in direct contact several times a day with the Residence Staff.

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from Indiana and across the United States.In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).
TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.
We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.
With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.
We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.
Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.
TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.
