We provide an intense program and rigorous curriculum for students, based on the principles of freedom, trust, and responsibility. Students regulate their school day and design individual curricula suitable to their interests. There are no required courses. Courses are limited only by the students' interests and their willingness to meet the practical challenges entailed in investigating, arranging, and managing experiences, instruction, or research on the topics they choose.

Courses / Programs:

- K-12 education based on the Sudbury model where students from preschool through high school age explore subjects of their choice freely, in their own unique ways and at their own pace. Our curriculum is limited only by our students' imagination. Applications for admission are accepted year-round.

- After-school care will be available to students from 3:30pm to 5:30pm only upon special request and arrangements made in advance.

Our Philosophy:
Sunset Sudbury School provides a rich learning environment in which students are free to follow their interests. We are one of many schools worldwide, modeled after Sudbury Valley School in Framingham, MA.(est. 1968). Sunset Sudbury School differs from most other schools in three ways:

- We offer an environment that supports self-directed learning. We operate in a truly democratic setting.
- We trust in each child’s innate curiosity and ability to know what’s best for him or her, and encourage behavior that recognizes mutual respect for self and others.
- We use a system of justice that is student-led and empowering for all.

School Hours:

We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 3:30pm. Students may arrive and leave school when they want provided they stay for at least five hours per day and maintain the following minimum weekly hours: 25 hours per week for ages 10 and above, 20 hours per week for ages 7 to 9, and 15 hours per week for ages 4 to 6.
