Lycee Franco Americain International School:
Lycée Franco-Américain is a private two-way immersion language school from Pre-K 2 to 5th grade, located on Stirling Road, Cooper City in south-west Broward County. Our campus is situated west of the intersection of Stirling Road and Pine Island Road (which becomes Douglas Road). The school offers instruction in French and English taught by native speakers. We also offer the Primary Year Program (PYP) from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), which gives us a framework in which to offer our curriculum.
Educational Programs:
Our curriculum is based on the French educational system and is reinforced by the State of Florida curriculum, which facilitates the student's ability to follow the American educational system. To insure academic success, we adapt the curriculum to our students' levels throughout the academic school year.
The instruction is organized into grade levels with set competencies on which our students are constantly evaluated. The academic program is enhanced by our personalized enrichment academy program.
Preschool: PK 2 - PK 4 (Maternelle, Moyenne Section), Kindergarten: Kindergarten (Grande Section), Elementary: 1st - 5th grades (CP, CE1, CE2, CM1 and CM2).
* Two-way Immersion Bilingual Program (French & English language):
We offer a two-way immersion program in which students are expected to perform at or above grade level in English and in French. To insure their academic success, the curriculum adapts itself to our students' levels throughout the academic school year. The academic program is enhanced by personalized enrichment academies. Our program is structured as follows:
- Learning Program: This core concept curriculum allows students to concentrate on the main academic subjects, i.e. Language, Arts, Science, Mathematics, and Social Science.
- Enrichment Academy: This is tailored to offer students various enrichment opportunities. Students are admitted to different academies based on their needs.
- The Linguistic Academy: Our multilingual curriculum (English, French and Spanish) encourages students to develop their multiple linguistic abilities.
- The Performing Arts and Fine Arts Academy: Includes drama, dance, and a comprehensive music curriculum with theory and composition.
* The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP):
This program is for students aged 3 to 12 years. It is a transdisciplinary program of international education designed to foster the development of the whole child. It focuses on the total growth of the developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development.
The curriculum framework consists of five essential elements: concepts, knowledge, skills, attitude, action. The knowledge component is developed through inquiries into six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, supported and balanced by six subject areas. Six transdisciplinary themes of global significance provide the framework for exploration and study:
- Who we are
- Where we are in place and time
- How we express ourselves
- How the world works
- How we organize ourselves
- Sharing the planet
The six subject areas include: Language, social studies, mathematics, arts, science and technology and personal, social and physical education.
* Summer Camp:
Join us for an unforgettable true French language immersion summer camp experience full of culturally, physically, and academically enriching activities sessions from June to August. In addition to French, swimming, fishing, soccer and volleyball, we offer English lessons to students who want to learn English and / or need to enhance their English skills.
* French Heritage Language Program:
We are now offering French classes for all level of adults and children. The classes are held every Wednesday from 4:00 - 6:00pm at the LFA campus. A Saturday class from 11:00am to 1:00pm will begin as soon as the minimum enrollment has been met. The maximum number of participants per group is 10 students. All levels (from beginner to advanced) who are interested in improving their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills are invited to attend. The options are:
* Children (ages 5-7)
* Children (ages 8-12)
* Adults
* Extra-Curricular Program:
We have developed a comprehensive extra-curricular program that includes: Martial Arts, dance, hip hop, basketball, soccer, cheerleading, gymnastics, tennis, golf, drama / acting, French club, chess and mind lab.
