Be Unique Academy was created to provide services to those children that need us the most. Founder Johana Sarmiento and Felix Cardenas envisioned a place where all children no matter their disabilities could share one common place where they could learn, share and laugh all while becoming productive members of their community. They have combined 20+ years of experience making this vision come true.
Our Mission:
To create and provide a nurturing and educational environment for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities addressing the whole child: mind, heart and soul. We encourage close relationship development between teachers and students, providing a kind of consistency and stability that is rare in other settings.

The goal of Be Unique Academy is to provide a nurturing environment where students feel accepted and loved for who they are, while maximizing their full academic, physical and social potential.

Located in the Temple Terrace area, just 10 minutes north of downtown Tampa FL, Focus Academy is a private charter school for students ages 14-22 who have learning, and social skills challenges. We serve students with a range educational designations including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectually Disabled (IND), Specific Learning Disabled (SLD), and Language Impaired (LI). We provide differentiated, individualized instruction, but emphasize a full high school experience, including sports and physical education and state of the art technology. The curriculum at Focus Academy is structured with dual purposes: academic achievement and social success. We specialize in social skills training with relationship building and real life application.
At Focus Academy, students will also have access to activities that will strengthen social skills in ways not offered through other schools.

Montverde Academy, Orlando

Established in 1912, Montverde Academy is located in Montverde in Lake County (just outside of Orlando). The Academy is an independent, boarding and day college preparatory school for boys & girls. We offer a challenging day program for Pre-Kindergarten through to 6th grade and an enriching day and boarding program for 7th grade through to 12th grade and a multi-tiered ESL program.
