American School of Paris, Paris:
The American School of Paris, located in the heart of the magical city, is an independent, coeducational day school offering an educational program in English and French from pre-kindergarten through grade 13 for all students of international backgrounds. Over the past 62 years, it has built a reputation for being a warm, welcoming and nurturing school with strong academics and enviable opportunities to enhance learning.
Lower School Program:
Children in the elementary years of education are developing the necessary skills, both social and academic, to become confident and engaged learners. We encourage children to be active participants in their own learning and to continually question what they are learning and how it connects to their own experiences. Our goal is to instill the joy of learning in our students by providing a nurturing environment that supports and challenges a child’s development.
Academic areas of literacy, science, social studies, mathematics and French blend with co-curricular areas of music, art and physical education to create a rich experience filled with opportunities for all Lower School students to explore new ideas. Our students take part in many field trips to complement their learning in school and the amazing city of Paris is visited regularly thus becomes a familiar resource to continually explore.
Middle School Program:
What does it mean to be "in the middle"? There are more changes that take place in a young person during the three years of middle school than take place at almost any other stage of life. These changes are dramatic: a major growth spurt; cognitive understanding evolving from the concrete to the abstract; the emerging understanding of moral and ethical principles; the physical maturation of adolescence; and social relationships changing from having play partners to developing more intimate friendships.
At ASP our Middle School program is designed with this in mind, ensuring that the energy and dynamism of these three formative years is captured and harnessed for the success of each student.
Instruction is organized by the following subjects: the study of literature and of the fundamental skills of communication (via English), the study of a second modern language (French), the Social Studies (including History and Geography), a lab-based Science program (introducing students to Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth Science), Mathematics, the Arts (the fine arts, music, and theater), Physical Education, and Technology. In the academic subject areas, our curriculum is designed to meet the standards currently established by the most demanding state and professional organizations in the United States, as well as those that will eventually be required by the International Baccalaureate Diploma program.
Upper School Program:
The Upper School offers a rich tradition of academic excellence to over 350 students from almost 50 different countries. Our students go to the top universities in the world and as a college preparatory school, students are expected to challenge themselves intellectually, guided by our highly qualified, supportive faculty.
The Upper School offers IInternational Baccalaureate courses including the full diploma, Advanced Placement classes and a variety of exciting elective options and while our student actors and musicians perform in one of the finest theaters in Paris, our athletes compete against schools throughout Europe.
“The Gateway to an Exceptional Future” :
Our outstanding exam results and university placement records speak for themselves but they do not tell the whole story. Our students are successful because they are happy in an Upper School program and community that respects individuality and which challenges students to fulfill their potential in every aspect of life.
Your child will enjoy success with us because we provide:
- A challenging and varied academic program that features a broad range of both International Baccalaureate and American Advanced Placement options.
