Reggio Lingua, Reggio Emilia:
Reggio Lingua is a specialized language center in Reggio Emilia, north of Italy, teaching Italian language and culture to people of all ages and nationalities. We organize Italian courses for groups, individuals, and businesses (for managers, technicians and employees), as well as for high school and university groups, homestay programs in an instructor’s home, and courses in preparation for the CILS and CELI exams.

Courses are offered year round. They are organized by level, with a limited number of students in each class to encourage the students’ active participation and to provide a peaceful, relaxed working environment.

Methodology:

Image of Italian Language Classes in Northern ItalyOur method is based on a communicative-situational approach that aims to acquire communicative competence through the promotion of four basic skills simultaneously (the ability to listen, speak, read, and write in order to understand and be understood), as outlined by the Council of Europe in the Common European Framework of Reference. Classes are limited to 3-8 people, to allow for active participation by all students and to encourage a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. The students will participate actively, creating a welcoming, informal and relaxed atmosphere. Our goal is to teach the living, up-to-date language and to spread Italian culture through role-playing and dramatization activities, discussions on current topics and films, analysis of literary texts and newspaper articles, and listening to songs.

Accommodation:

Our school offers free assistance in finding accommodation. All types of accommodation, homestay, flat, youth hostel, except farmhouses, are located near the school and can be reached with public transport. Accommodation is reserved starting from the Sunday before the beginning of the course until the Saturday morning following the end of the course, unless students request a different time period.

Activities:

The opportunity to get to know each other and to practice Italian in their free time.

Let’s not forget theatre performances, activities for children, festivals with typical folk dances, feasts celebrating historical events, fairs and various celebrations in and around the city. Reggio Emilia has something for everyone.

Reggio Emilia and its surrounding area offer a great variety of leisure time activities. Among the many cultural events, the most important ones are “Reggio Emilia e oltre”, jazz and ethnic music performances, the international festival of ballet and the “REC”, a festival of contemporary art (music, dance, drama, jazz, exhibitions and films).

There are also various small towns near Reggio Emilia of historic-artistic interest, such as Sabbioneta, Guastalla, Correggio, Scandiano, Novellara, as well as very interesting itineraries and visits to castles located in the land once owned by Matilde di Canossa.

Nature lovers can make fascinating excursions to both the Emilian Apennines and along the Po River. Those wishing to know more about Italian folklore can visit several fairs and markets selling local products.

For sportspersons, the province of Reggio Emilia offers mountain biking and road cycling routes, swimming, tennis, horseback riding, athletics, golf, climbing at Pietra di Bismantova, skiing in the Emilian Apennines, and canoeing on the Enza River.

On a day trip you can also reach towns such as Modena, Parma, Bologna, Ferrara, Mantua, Ravenna, Padua, Verona, Venice, Florence, seaside resorts (both on the Adriatic and Ligurian coasts) and tourist locations on Lake Garda.
