Music, Dance & Martial Arts Lessons in Ocean County, NJ

Sweet Music Academy:
Located in New Egypt, Plumsted Township, Ocean County, New Jersey, Sweet Music Academy offers music, dance, yoga and martial arts programs for children and teenagers. Classes are available as group or private lessons. With two locations in New Egypt, Ocean County and Howell, Monmouth County, we educate students in these disciplines throughout Ocean, Monmouth and Mercer Counties.

We offer:

Music:
We realize that every student learns at a different pace and we will help gear your lessons with that in mind. We also believe that all students should learn about the principals of music. Each lesson will include a certain degree of music theory. By learning theory students will further develop an appreciation and understanding of all music.

We are extremely proud of our facilities. Each studio is equipped with the tools you will need during your lesson (stereo, music stands, metronome, amplifiers etc.). Each location has a large room that is used for ensembles, group classes, and small recitals. All of our studios have a large sized door window so that concerned parents can look in on their children during a lesson.

Pre Dance and Pre Tap:
This is a wonderful creative class for young children interested in dance with slightly more focus on the concepts of chorography, and working with music. We also play improvisational games, incorporating movement and rhythm as we create dances together.

Ballet I:
In this class students will be introduced to the discipline, alignment, movement vocabulary and choreography in a fun and creative way. We also have a great time with movement and rhythm games as well as dance making. Tap shoes and ballet slippers are required.

Jazz Modern and Creative Tap:
Students will learn the differences and similarities in dance styles with a focus on vocabulary, proper alignment, style and FUN! Tap shoes are required.

Martial Arts:
Our core curriculum is a fusion of proven and practical martial arts methods and techniques drawn from traditional karate, tae kwon do, kung fu, kickboxing, western boxing, aikido, and classical jujitsu.

At the basic introductory level, our inclusive martial arts program for teens and adults provides you with a fundamental introduction to the arts of hand-to-hand combat and practical, effective self-defense. In addition to this the student will develop the keen self discipline, self confidence, focus, awareness, and sense of accomplishment that only active martial arts training can provide.

We offer children’s classes, private lessons, and special events and seminars highlighting the many values of the martial arts. We also hold classes in various weapon styles, such as Japanese Sword, Medieval European Sword, Bo Staff, Nunchaku, Pole-arm, Knife work, and more!
