The Purnell School is a private all-girls boarding high school for students in Grades 9-12. Located in Pottersville, within Bedminster Township in Somerset County, New Jersey, an hour west of New York City and two hours north of Philadelphia.

The school is just down the road from the headquarters of the United States Equestrian Team. The countryside around Purnell is horse and farm country, with picturesque rolling hills and deciduous forests. Rivers and streams meander across the landscape and even across our beautiful 83-acre campus.

Purnell is safely nestled away from the distractions of the city yet close enough to take advantage of the cultural attractions on weekends. The location is truly remarkable: close to the excitement and intellectual vibrancy of metropolitan areas yet removed enough to create a safe, reflective and inspirational atmosphere where growing girls thrive.

Residential Life:
Dorm Living at Purnell is a vital extension of the school's mission to create a family atmosphere which supports and nurtures each girl's growth and individuality. There is as much meaningful learning that occurs in the dorms as anywhere else on campus.

Dormitory life, as are all other aspects of life at Purnell, is based on the school's guidelines of common sense, truthful relationships, and consideration of others. All dormitory rules are derived from those three simple guidelines.

Take George Washington Bridge to I-80 West to I-287 South to Exit 22, Routes 202 & 206. Exit north on Route 206 for 4.5 miles. Turn left at light onto Route 512, Pottersville Road; 2 miles to Purnell on right.

From New York City via Lincoln Tunnel:
Take Lincoln Tunnel to New Jersey Turnpike South. Take exit to Newark Airport (I-78 West). Follow directions below from Newark Airport.

From Newark International Airport:
Take I-78 West for 30 miles to Exit 29 to merge onto I-287 North (you will pass one exit early on, you want the second I-287 exit). I-287 North for 1/2 mile to Exit 22B, Routes 202 & 206. Exit north on Route 206 for 4.5 miles. Turn left at light onto Route 512, Pottersville Road; 2 miles to Purnell on right.

From New England:
Take I-287 Cross Westchester Expressway to Tappan Zee Bridge to I-287 South to Exit 22. Exit north on 206 for 4.5 miles. Turn left at light onto Route 512, Pottersville Road; 2 miles to Purnell on right.

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys & girls) ages 13-18.

We welcome students from Pennsylvania, across the United States, & students from around the world (TWAI is authorized to issue 1-20's for international students).

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.
George School, Newtown

Located in Newtown, Bucks County PA, just five miles north of Langhorne, George School is a co-educational boarding and day school for domestic and international students in Grades 9-12. George School is a great place to get ready for college.

Besides offering a wide variety of Advanced Placement and other interesting, challenging classes, we are one of only four U.S. boarding schools offering the International Baccalaureate Program.

We also offer English as a Second Language (ESL) to help international students adapt to an English-speaking system of education. Boarding facilities are available with separate dormitory sections for boys and girls. Each of our dorms has a personality all of its own.

The Grier School

Located in Birmingham, Huntington County PA, the Grier School is a private boarding school for girls in Grades 7 through post-graduate year and admits girls regardless of race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin.
