The Mountain View Montessori School community works together within a prepared environment to follow the child in developing a lifelong love of learning. We provide an environment that guides and nurtures the self-construction of individuals who will be able to define themselves, think objectively, make independent decisions, and live a vital life.
We strive to respect, educate and serve a diversity of families, thus influencing a positive global effect through cosmic education. Following the guidelines of Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) is a vital part of our mission.
Dr. Montessori believed that education is an aid to life, wherein the child’s hand is the instrument of intelligence. Montessori education is a holistic approach incorporating the mind, body, and soul of the child. The philosophy is based on respect for the child, recognizing that the child is the leader in his or her own educational experience.
Montessori education values the child's innate curiosity, dignity, and individuality. Self-construction occurs through the child’s interaction with the environment. The environment is prepared for the child’s specific needs, stimulating all facets of interest. Strong emphasis is placed on the child as an individual. Exploration is encouraged in a non-competitive, goal-oriented classroom.
