Located in central Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, eastern Pennsylvania, The Philadelphia School is a private co-educational school for boys and girls in preschool through 8th grade. Theme-based learning is one of the principle tools we as progressive educators use to help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills and to encourage them to make complex connections across disciplines.
The goals of our curricular sequence are to achieve greater thematic coherence and to broaden multicultural awareness through in-depth studies of Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. TPS is a vibrant, progressive learning community. We believe that education should be embedded in authentic, real-world experiences. It is our goal to create an environment where students learn respect for the individual, respect for the community, and respect for democratic ideals.

We uphold the Bible as the living core of the Academy’s program by ensuring that every subject in our curriculum is taught from a distinctly Christian perspective.
This dedication to excellence is supported by a faculty of committed Christians, 47% of whom hold advanced degrees, and whose average tenure with Phil-Mont is 13 years. Our small class sizes and 9:1 student-teacher ratio ensure that each student gets the attention he or she requires in order to excel academically. The results speak for themselves: 98% of our graduates go on to 4-year colleges, with 75 percent receiving at least 1 award or scholarship, and 50% graduating as members of the National Honor Society. As well as our domestic school offer, we have an International Program that welcomes overseas students.
