The school in Montanita is special for quite a few reasons. The school itself, the passion of the teachers and staff and the location! The school is set just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Montanita but is a world apart! As soon as you step in, you will be aware that you have found special place of people that care.
Our teaching methodology follows the three key ingredients of successful learning. Your classes will be split into both grammar (its important to get the fundamentals right!) This is followed by speaking in practical situations, a conservational approach. The last ingredient is fun! If you are enjoying yourself is so much easier to learn. We will help you with interactive games and activities so you can apply what you have learnt in a practical and real way!

We have excellent, friendly teachers and staff that are waiting to make your experience learning Spanish in Ecuador a fantastic one! Our teachers are well qualified, and want you to make the most of your time learning Spanish. They are passionate about teaching, and will help you make the most of your abilities.
We have our own accommodation especially for our students. 'Montanita Eco Cabanas'. They are located in a very nice, quiet and tranquil area, yet just 3 minutes walk to the school, 2 minutes walk to the beach or 2 minutes to the centre of Montanita.
The Eco Cabanas are very spacious, come fully equipped with private bathrooms, large beds, hammocks and fans. There is a large communal area, big kitchen, large swimming pool and Jacuzzi!
The great waves of Montanita make it a perfect spot to learn both surfing and Spanish. Our surf instructor, Isidro, frequently places at the top of national and international competitions.
In addition, the school offers salsa classes and yoga classes. There are also diving classes where students can either go on recreational dives, advanced open water dives or take an 8-week PADI Dive Master course. Students are also encouraged to volunteer at the local hospital, local grade school and veterinary.
Montañita is a funky cool place. This is due to both its charm and excellent surfing. Over the last few years it has been discovered and is now THE place to hang out on the coast. Although its still small it is a booming beachside retreat attracting both international travellers as well as an alternative Ecuadorian crowd. It is therefore a great place to learn Spanish, meet other travellers and also practise your Spanish with local Ecuadorians.
Pavement culture thrives in Montañita village and the two main roads are lined with outdoor cafes in which to sit, and experience the uniqueness. The food is delicious, and cheap!, a great choice of pancakes and tropical fruit for breakfast and fantastic fresh seafood for the rest of the day.

The Amauta Foundation located in Cuenca, in the south of Ecuador, is a non-profit organization devoted to education and research on social and environmental issues in South America, with special emphasis on Ecuadorian studies.
