Centro De Lenguas Y Ecoturismo De Patzcuaro:
CELEP school is located at Navarrete # 50 Centro Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico C.P. 61600, in the center of one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico. Patzcuaro, a colonial city, is surrounded by many indigenous communities where you can find a lot of handcrafts, there are also several archaeological sites & beautiful lakes. Besides the Spanish classes, we also offer work shops and cultural activities.
CELEP offers two-week courses in Spanish. These courses are an introduction at three levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. One may register for one, two, or all three courses. During each two-week course, four hours of language instruction are offered daily, Monday-Friday. Classes are in small groups (maximum six students), with well-trained teachers using a functional skills focus and emphasizing conversational practice. Opportunities for conversation with Pátzcuaro residents and extra help with grammar are available. If you want to know more about the Mexican culture we can offer lectures and informal conversation on the following topics:
- Mexican literature
- Mesoamérica cosmovision, history and literature
- Latin American writers
- 2nd half of 20th Century
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Three hours of adventure into the Mexican culture are offered Monday - Wednesday - Friday afternoons. There are workshops in Mexican cooking and traditional herbal healing, walking tours of Pátzcuaro and its stunning indian markets, trips by boat to the islands of Lake Pátzcuaro, tours of pre-hispanic archeological sites, visits to artesans' workshops, and more. All of these activities are conducted in Spanish by experts in various fields.
