American Pacific International School, Chiangmai:
Based in Chiangmai, northern Thailand, 700 km north of Bangkok, the American Pacific International School is a caring international community that nurtures a love of learning and life-long inquiry. The APIS curriculum is designed to produce graduates who are inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring,risk-takers, balanced, and reflective individuals. American Pacific International School is proud to have been Chiangmai's first internationally-accredited boarding school. Boarding places are available from the age of six years through to graduation in Grade 12.

Kindergarten:
The attitude of lifelong learning begins in our Kindergarten. At American Pacific International School Kindergarten, purposeful play and interaction positively develop the social, emotional, physical and academic growth of each child. Learning through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) is both challenging and fun.

Our Professional team works collaboratively to plan developmentally-appropriate, stimulating, engaging and relevant learning experiences for the children in our care. We provide a physically and academically safe environment where the children can take risks whilst exploring who they are, what they can do and learning to take pride in being a member of our multicultural community.

Our well resourced classrooms and play areas are specially designed to stimulate curiosity and inquiry. They support the children in building a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, science and the arts. Outdoor play equipment and a swimming pool specially constructed to meet the needs of young children facilitate the children’s fine and gross motor skills development.

Elementary:
At American Pacific International School, we aim to inspire our students to pursue a wide range of opportunities and experiences. At The America Pacific International School we provide a sound foundation for academic success and personal well-being. Learning through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) is both challenging and fun.

At APIS we:

Internationalism is naturally part of our school culture, and we recognize and celebrate diversity through traditional subject areas and after school activities In our School, we strive to meet each child’s individual needs and learning styles through a well-balanced curriculum. By varying the task and/or the materials, and with multiple teachers in a class of twenty students or less, we are successfully able to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of every student.

American Pacific Internaitonal School is authorised to deliver the International Baccalaureate Organisation's Primary Years Programme. Classes are of fewer than twenty students and are taught by high caliber teacher and teacher assistants with specialist teachers of English as a Second Language, Thai, Chinese, Physical Education, Art and Music in the Elementary grades. The specialist Teacher Librarian also teaches Elementary students.

Middle School:
The Middle School program at American Pacific International School is a three-year program covering Grades 6-8. It builds on the work done in Elementary grades and begins to prepare students for the greater responsibility and independence of High School. A team of teachers experienced in working with this age group works with students to help them build on the skills and attitudes to learning that have been acquired during their years in Elementary grades, while moving towards the greater depth and analysis of academic study in High School.

Group size remains small so that teachers know their students well and are able to work with them on developing indovodual skills appropriate to their ability. APIS recognises the importance of the teenage years in the life of every young person: steps are taken to ensure that our students develop a certainty of their own worth as well as respect for others and their beliefs.

High School:
The APIS high school curriculum offers courses in core subjects such as English, history, science, mathematics and modern languages (Thai, Chinese and Japanese.) Elective course options provide students the opportunity to explore more deeply subjects that are of interest. Advanced and elective courses include academic writing, computers, drawing and painting, Advanced Placement coursesoffered include AP Studio Art, AP AB Calculus and others. Students must earn 20 credits for a high school diploma.

Our students are well prepared for university and they are accepted to colleges and universities all over the world. Beginning in the junior year, students meet regularly with a university counselor who assists students in career exploration and helps students find the universities that best match their interests and abilities. In preparation for university placement, APIS also offers preparatory courses in SAT, TOEFL, and IELTS.
