Jumeira Baccalaureate School:
Jumeira Baccalaureate School (JBS), in Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE, is a co-educational International School offering programs to students from Kindergarten through to High School Grade 12. Our programs include the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.
The International Primary Curriculum (IPC):
The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is an international curriculum providing a cross-curricular, thematic, rigorous teaching structure designed to engage children of all abilities in today's world. The IPC was originally designed and created by Fieldwork Education to provide an international curriculum for a group of 14 schools around the world. Since its introduction in 2000 that figure has grown to over 800 schools in over 58 different countries. The IPC was four years in preparation and its continued development today ensures that a current and highly relevant curriculum continues to evolve.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE):
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (abbreviated IGCSE or iGCSE) is an internationally recognised qualification for school students, typically in the 15-16 age group. It is similar to the GCSE in England, Wales & Northern Ireland, Standard Grade in Scotland or Junior Certificate in the Republic of Ireland. The Cambridge IGCSE was developed by University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) in 1988. The examination board Edexcel, offers its own version, the IGCSE.
Middle Years Programme (MYP):
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) was originally developed by the International Schools Association, and then further developed by schools within the International Baccalaureate during the early nineties. It is purpose-built for international schools like ours and is now being taught and implemented worldwide, with considerable growth in Europe, Asia and in the Americas. It is being implemented both in fee-paying international schools and in some state systems (for example in Quebec, where it is delivered in French).
The MYP puts an emphasis on the whole child and the child is at the centre of planning for teaching and learning. The MYP is taught from Grade 6 through to Grade 10 (11-16 years old). We are aiming at offering the IB MYP Programme from September 2011.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme:
The Diploma Programme (DP) is a challenging, broad and balanced programme set over two years of study. The DP is well recognised by leading universities throughout the world and aims to equip students with not only the basic academic skills needed for university study, but to also create a well rounded individual who has developed positive values and life skills. The DP was the first of the IB programmes to be offered and was introduced in 1969. With over half a million students from 119 countries graduating since its inception.
Extra-curricular Activities:
JBS will offer a vast variety of Extra-curricular Activities (ECA's), which will be delivered by the school's staff as they will build on what is offered in the curriculum. Other activities such as sports and arts will be offered by a range of contracted companies.

Dubai English Speaking School (DESS) is the premier English National Curriculum, international primary school in Dubai, catering to over 800 children between Reception & Year 6 (4-11 years). We are conveniently located in Oud Metha (Al Nasr), a small residential locality in the city. Each year group has five classes with average class size between 22 and 24 students.Each year group has a year team leader who is one of the team of five class teachers. At Key Stage One each class, and at Key Stage Two each year group, has a learning assistant. The school also has specialist staff in areas including games, literacy, music and ICT who both teach and support the class teacher. The Learning Support Department supports both individual children and class groups. The school has a full time nurse.
