Program in American Language Studies (PALS/ESL) at Rutgers-Newark:
Rutgers University is situated in Newark, New Jersey, one of America's largest college towns. Newark's reputation as a center for the arts and business is rivaled only by the fact that it is also one of America's most dynamic college towns. Over 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students attend classes in the downtown area and in University Heights - home to Rutgers University.
Newark offers much in the way of arts, entertainment, recreation, and great cuisine. It is very close to New York City and other large cities, such as Jersey City and Hoboken, and just minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport. All are easily accessible by bus or train from the Rutgers-Newark campus. Rutgers-Newark is located within walking distance of NJIT (New Jersey Institute of Technology), Essex County College, and UMDNJ (University of Medicine and Dentisty of New Jersey).
Located in the heart of New Jersey’s largest and most important city, our 37-acre campus places us in the center of the educational, healthcare, government, business, financial, legal and cultural district of downtown Newark.
