Conserve School:
Located just to the west of Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin, Conserve School is a non-sectarian semester school for high school juniors that focuses on environmental education. Semester school is a term used to describe a boarding school that complements a student’s secondary education by providing them with the opportunity to step out of their regular school for half an academic year and step into a uniquely different educational setting while continuing their required academic studies.
Residential Semester School for High School Juniors:
Our academic program is made up of two main types of courses, Core Courses and Continuity Courses. Core Courses are science and humanities courses unique to Conserve School. They are designed around environmental themes and include a component of outdoor activities. Continuity courses focus on keeping students up-to-date in the most sequential and skill-based academic subjects.
Core Courses:
- Environmental Science (Applied Ecology and Sustainable Systems)
- Advanced Topics in English (Wilderness Voices: American Literature and the Land)
- Advanced Topics in History (History of Wilderness Exploration: the Northwoods and Beyond)
- Physical Education (Pack, Pedal, and Paddle: Outdoor Skills and Activities)
Continuity Courses:
- Mathematics (Algebra II, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC)
- Modern Languages (Three flexible levels of Spanish, Other languages available through online courses, at addiitonal expense)
Electives and Online Courses:

- Drawn to Nature
- Ceramics
- A wide variety of online courses are available through Wisconsin Virtual School
