Why choose an MA in Comparative Literature at DCU?

- Exclusive MA Degree - only taught at DCU
Whilst Comparative Literature degrees have been offered all over the world since the late 19th century, DCU is the only Irish university offering such a degree. Graduates in languages and related arts and humanities subjects now have the opportunity to combine their chosen disciplines in their postgraduate studies. The MA in Comparative Literature was the first of its kind in Ireland. It has developed into a very popular and versatile degree. None of the taught modules appear on other, mono-cultural, literary degrees in DCU.

State of the art facilities

DCU was recently voted one of the top 50 universities in the world. At DCU we focus on the quality of the 'learning experience' for each student. Because of this focus on academic excellence, we ensure that your degree is highly regarded, both nationally and internationally, and that you are equipped to be successful in all aspects of your life: both in the workplace and in wider society. We strive constantly to improve the quality of our degree programmes and this has been recognised in many external reviews.

Respected and employable graduates

DCU graduates are highly sought after by employers. A 2011 survey of our most recent graduates (those who graduated with a degree in 2010) demonstrated that nearly 90% of those who responded to the survey were either in employment or in further study. This is a very high percentage and much higher than the national average measured across all Irish universities. Some of the students who have been awarded this MA have gone on to do a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature. Others are now literary critics, writers, editors working with publishers, teachers, academics, librarians and cultural event organisers.

International Students Welcome
Students who have successfully completed the Pre-Masters International Foundation Programme (IFP), are guaranteed a place on their target programme in DCU. Email us today via our Contact Us page for further details.
