American Academy of English, San Francisco Bay Area:
The American Academy of English is an English language school with 2 campus locations in the San Francisco Bay Area of California: Our main campus is centrally located on Golden Gate Avenue in San Francisco, and the other is based in Oakland, approximately 8 miles (13 km) east of San Francisco. We offer the latest in modern English language programs and facilities. We have programs for all levels from beginners to advanced, as well as TOEFL preparation. The Academy is proud of its past students who have been accepted by over 50 colleges and universities throughout the United States. We have been helping students make the right choice since 1982.

- Intensive English Language Program:
The American Academy of English offers classes in all areas of English as a Second Language including:  Pronunciation/ Accent Reduction, Speaking, TOEFL and TOEIC Preparation, American Culture, Grammar , Writing, Reading, Vocabulary Development, Business English / Computers, Idioms / American Slang and American Film Classics.

Four levels of classes are offered:

- Basic:  Focuses on basic life skills, proper pronunciation, basic grammar, vocabulary and reading skills. Also emphasizes speaking/listening.

- Beginners:  Emphasizes everyday speaking/listening activities, writing diaries and journals, work on accent and intonation, and introduction to beginning grammatical structures.

- Intermediate:  Emphasizes speaking/listening, vocabulary building, reading improvement, and intermediate grammatical structures as well as accent reduction.

- Advanced:  Emphasizes advanced vocabulary building, vocabulary for academic purposes, reading and American Culture.

- English Language Exam Preparation Courses:
The Academy offers test preparation courses for the TOEFL and TOEIC. Courses provide instruction and practice in all of the traditionally tested areas, including vocabulary, grammar, reading and listening comprehension. Review of what is traditionally on the exam, advice on strategy, and clear explanations of grammar points help students through the test preparation process.

* The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):  TOEFL evaluates the ability of an individual to use and understand English in an academic setting. It sometimes is an admission requirement for non-native English speakers at many English-speaking colleges and universities.

* The Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC):  TOEIC measures the ability of non-native English-speaking examinees to use English in everyday workplace activities.

- English Language University Preparation Program:
In cooperation with several universities and colleges, we can provide you with acceptance into a college or university after successful completion of the University Readiness Program. We can guarantee that you will be accepted by any one of these fine colleges without taking TOEFL (No TOEFL Requirement).

The University Readiness Program provides you with the ideal environment for language training and practical preparation for academic success at the university level. You will receive insruction in the practical skills you will need to survive and succeed in a college or university setting. The program will introduce you to US Educational Expectations, the comprehension of academic texts, research methods, examination formats, time management, and the preparation of university-level essays.

- Homestay Program With a Local American Family:
Learn the English language and American culture through immersion by living locally with an American family. Living with an American family provides lots of opportunity to practice your English.

Certificates Offered:
Students attending the Academy who participate regularly and make outstanding improvement in their speech are issued a Certificate of Attendance or Certificate of Achievement. Students taking the TOEIC test are also eligible to receive a certificate from ETS according to the level of language proficiency they have achieved.
