The Japan Foundation (JF Nihongo):
Located in the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles CA, between Downtown LA and Beverly Hills, The Japan Foundation (JF Nihongo) is a Japanese language school that provides a range of everyday, conversational Japanese courses to adult students. These courses focus on how well learners can do things in practical settings. Using materials from Japanese daily life, you will enjoy these friendly, interactive, and above all, fun courses!
Japanese Language Courses for Adults:
Everyday Japanese: Mastering Kana Course:
In this introductory course, students learn how to greet people, introduce yourself, and talk about your favorite foods and hobbies in Japanese. At the end of the course, successful learners will:
- Be able to make appropriate greetings for different times of day and to show gratitude
- Be able to introduce yourself using simple Japanese
- Be able to talk about your favorite foods and hobbies
- Have knowledge of the Japanese Kana writing systems, including its history
Everyday Japanese: Making Friends 1 (Family Life)
In this course, students learn how to talk about family, daily life, how to plan and invite friends to an event.
This course also introduces basic knowledge of Kanji and the most useful Kanji for everyday life.
Everyday Japanese: Making Friends 2 (Food & Shopping)
Learn simple expressions used for shopping and eating out. Using actual materials from everyday life in Japan, you learn how to go out to shop, and eat out at your favorite restaurants.
Everyday Japanese: Making Friends 3 (Travel in Japan)
Learn simple expressions used while you are traveling in Japan, such as taking a train and a taxi, reading a map, or asking someone directions.
Learn how to explain about your hometown to Japanese people, and learn to say what you did and what you thought on your trip and to write a postcard to your friends!
Everyday Japanese: Fun With Friends 1,2,3:
Fun with Friends is designed for Japanese language learners who have completed JF Nihongo Mastering Kana, Making Friends 1, 2 and 3 or an equivalent course (A1 level). The Fun with Friends courses 1, 2 and 3 focus on the following topics:
- Fun with Friends 1: Upgrade Your Introduction
Level up your self-introduction to chat with a native speaker!
- Fun with Friends 2: Health and Beauty
Chat and give tips about health and beauty with your friends!
- Fun with Friends 3: Travel in Japan
Let's travel in Japan! You will design a custom tour with your favorite places.
Business Japanese Course:
The Business Japanese class is designed for experienced Japanese learners who would like to improve their language skills at an advanced level.
In addition to business manners, the class covers a wide range of skills through conversation, reading, listening, and writing at an intermediate to advanced level.
Topics include polite speech and keigo (honorific language) for formal situations, e-mail, and phone conversation. The class further aims to help students improve their vocabulary and kanji ability. Instruction is given in Japanese.
