The Seattle Japanese Language School, part of the JCCCW (Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington), offers evening and summer Japanese classes for adults from beginner to advanced levels. The mission of the Seattle Japanese Language School is to give instruction in the Japanese Language augmented by the introduction of culture and history of Japan and to enhance the learning process. The Seattle Japanese Language School has a very proud history as the oldest operating Japanese language school in the continental United States. The Seattle Japanese Language School merged to become a part of the JCCCW in 2009.
Located in Northern Indianapolis, Indiana, International Business Language & Culture Institute (IBLCI) serves students in greater Indianapolis classrooms in mainly Hamilton County. Our students mostly live in Anderson, Carmel, Fishers, Indianapolis, Noblesville, Westfield, Zionsville, etc. We provide students with creative instruction in: conversation -- listening & responding practice in Japanese native language literacy -- reading and writing help with hiragana, katakana and/or kanji. Tutors and camp leaders are native speakers of the Japanese language who have lived, worked and/or taught in Japan for several years. College of Humanities Undergraduate Programs: Japanese studies at San Francisco State University offer studies in three main areas - language, literature and culture, as well as in translation, interpretation and specialized courses for business applications. The BA degree curriculum satisfies the single subject requirement in Japanese for the California teaching credential. The MA Program is divided into two areas of concentration: Teaching of Japanese as a Foreign Language, and Professional Applications of Japanese Language. Many students enter the Japanese program with definite career goals - teaching, translation, business, and research in diverse academic fields. There are a number of opportunities for study in Japan. Through the CSU International program, selected students may study at Waseda University in Tokyo during their junior year. Scholarships are granted by a local organization and by the Ministry of Education in Japan. Through a University Exchange program, the Japanese program selects students to study at Oita University in Kyushu under a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education.
