At San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking our goal is to teach our students the craft of filmmaking and to nurture their own passion for making films. Our project-based film classes give our students the real-working experience necessary to succeed in the competitive world of filmmaking.

SFSDF is located in the South of Market area of San Francisco. This district known for combining art, music and technology is just minutes from Market Street, Downtown, the Financial District, and Potrero Hill. At SFSDF we keep our classes small by design. This way we ensure that all of the state-of the art high definition filmmaking equipment you will need to make movie magic is right at your fingertips.

The physical heart and soul of SFSDF is our sound stage. This is literally where movie magic happens! SFSDF has built a brand-new sound stage that rivals the best in San Francisco. Third Street Stage is a cavernous 50'x 50' with an 18-foot high lighting grid spanning the entire sound stage. We can easily accommodate both large and small productions. Our Green Screen is a 20' x 20' x 16' seamless cyclorama. The "cyc" is lit by Image 40 Kino Flo lights and because of its non-metallic construction it is able to be used in motion capture production. We have an extensive list of lighting and grip equipment through our partnership with Richard Favaro of Favaro Lighting.
