TAFE NSW – Sydney Institute:
TAFE NSW – Sydney Institute is Australia's largest and oldest school of vocational education and training. Named the 2003 NSW Large Training Provider of the Year, the Institute is owned and operated by the NSW Government. Certified as an ISO 9000:2001 quality training provider, TAFE NSW – Sydney Institute has trained more than two million people in its long history of teaching excellence. Today, students from over 70 countries come to the Institute to take English language training or study accounting, information technology, hospitality and a host of other courses.
We offer Graduate Certificates (half year), Advanced Diploma (2 to 3 years), Diploma (1 to 2 years) in over 100 vocational courses including Accounting, Architecture, Business, Management, Hospitality, Nursing, Engineering, Fine Arts, Photography among many others.
TAFE PLUS short courses
If you are a secondary-school student in Year 11 or 12, you can study selected TAFE subjects that contribute to your HSC. These are called TAFE delivered vocational HSC courses, or TVET. Not only do TVET courses teach you skills that give you a head start in a career, but they can also be used as a foot in the door to further study at TAFE NSW or university. All TVET courses count as units towards your HSC and nationally accredited qualifications. Some TVET courses such as accounting and other industry curriculum frameworks, including hospitality and electrotechnology, also count towards your UAI.
Traineeship courses
As a trainee or apprentice you can combine your TAFE NSW – Sydney Institute course with a real job, working for a real boss and a real wage while you gain a nationally recognised qualification.
In a Sydney Institute traineeship or apprenticeship you:
- learn a skill or trade through a combination of work and training
- work several days a week while studying at one of our TAFE colleges
- earn a training wage under contract with an employer
- are taught by a qualified teacher with years of industry experience
- can choose full-time or part-time study
3D animation courses
Diploma 3D Animation and Digital Effects and Certificate IV 3D Animation and Digital Effects are offered on a full-time basis. These courses were developed and created in consultation with a broad representation of the film, TV and games industries. With small class sizes, the courses are practical, very hands on and graduates are expected to produce a showreel by the end of course.
The Certificate IV 3D animation course is geared to both school leavers and those in industry who wish to upgrade skills or change careers. Depending on skills brought to the course, graduates can gain employment after completing this comprehensive course. The Diploma will upgrade those skills learnt in Certificate IV and add compositing and other specific skills to your repertoire.
We also offer English Language courses, School Leavers courses among many others.
