MEDICAL ASSISTANT

The Medical Assistant program is designed to train you in the patient-related aspect of a health-care facility. You will learn both administrative and clinical duties to best prepare you for employment in a doctor's office or hospital. Upon completion of this program you will be able to obtain a patient's history, take vital signs, perform routine tests, and assist the physician by preparing the room and patient for exams. You will also have the ability to handle front desk operations of a medical facility by scheduling appointments, greeting patients, and making telephone calls. The Medical Assistant program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), on recommendation of the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants' Endowment (AAMAE). As a graduate of the Medical Assistant program, you will be eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam.

EVENING MEDICAL BILLING & CODING SPECIALIST

Upon completion of the Evening Medical Billing & Coding Specialist program, the student will qualify to be employed in a facility that handles billing for medical services. A strong knowledge of medical codes and insurance is necessary to be proficient as a specialist. This program provides training in essential areas for this specialty such as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, computer fundamentals, and legal issues of the profession.
