Upon completion of this curriculum, you will have a thorough understanding of office procedures, principles of accounting, and records management. MEDICAL ASSISTANT

The Medical Assistant program is designed to train you in the patient-related aspect of a health-care facility. You will learn both administrative and clinical duties to best prepare you for employment in a doctor's office or hospital. Upon completion of this program you will be able to obtain a patient's history, take vital signs, perform routine tests, and assist the physician by preparing the room and patient for exams. You will also have the ability to handle front desk operations of a medical facility by scheduling appointments, greeting patients, and making telephone calls. The Medical Assistant program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), on recommendation of the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants' Endowment (AAMAE). As a graduate of the Medical Assistant program, you will be eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam.

Students will be expected to support end users and programmers in business environments and have experience operating computers and peripherals. This will enable students to successfully become employed in various sized companies. Students completing the Networking and Technical Support Specialist program will have the necessary skills to become employed in entry-level positions such as Technical Support Specialist, Network Support Specialist, Applications Support Specialist, Internet Support Specialist, Computer Operator, Computer Repair Technician and Web Page Development Specialist.

The objective of the Legal Office Assistant program is to train you for employment in a secretarial capacity in a law firm or government agency. Your legal studies will include transcription, preparation of legal documents, office procedures, terminology, and business law. In addition, you will learn popular word processing programs typically used in a legal environment. Taking advantage of a legal internship with a local organization provides you with invaluable experience and will assist you in securing employment.

The Office Support Specialist program offers you the opportunity to develop and polish administrative skills that are in demand. This program prepares the student for employment as a transcriptionist; in addition, the student may use the learned skills to be a medical secretary. Necessary areas of learning shall include medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, computer fundamentals, keyboarding, pharmacology, and medical transcription.

EVENING MEDICAL BILLING & CODING SPECIALIST
11 Months • 690 Hours
Upon completion of the Evening Medical Billing & Coding Specialist program, the student will qualify to be employed in a facility that handles billing for medical services. A strong knowledge of medical codes and insurance is necessary to be proficient as a specialist. This program provides training in essential areas for this specialty such as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, computer fundamentals, and legal issues of the profession. Among other positions, the graduate will qualify to be a medical examiner rating clerk, coding file clerk, hospital insurance clerk, or patient insurance clerk.
