Situated in the Chelsea District of New York City (on 26th St between 6th and 8th Ave), Swedish Institute is a healthcare training institute that offers a variety of allied health Certificate and Degree programs. Courses include Massage Therapy, Nursing, Surgical Technology, and more. Our students benefit from programs based on a holistic and integrative approach to health and wellness that meet or exceed the rigorous requirements of programmatic accreditation. Swedish Institute is a premier multi-specialty health educational institution, using its nearly 100-year tradition of excellence in the education of massage therapists to inform education and training in diverse areas of health practice.
Swedish Institute is authorized by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York to confer the Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) degree, the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree, the Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) degree and the Master of Science (MS) degree to graduates of programs registered with the State of New York.
Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges. The Surgical Technologist program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA). The Nursing program is a candidate for accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
Although students from all over the U.S. and from many foreign countries are educated here, the core of Swedish Institute’s student population consists of residents from the greater metropolitan New York area. Approximately 500 students are enrolled in one of our programs.
Students are a wide range of ages, from 18 to over 55, with an average age in the mid- 30’s. This means that most have worked full-time, many have attended college and some are raising a family. The diversity of student backgrounds enriches the institution and reflects the cosmopolitan aura of the city.

Continuing Education:
In addition to degree and certificate programs, Swedish Institute offers a wide array of professional and avocational continuing education courses. Many courses can be used to fulfill continuing education requirements for licensed professionals or assist professionals in expanding their existing practices. Others are offered to the wider community and relate to general health and wellness.
