Study Abroad Programs in Spain

Spanish-American Institute of International Education, Seville:
Established in 1984, The Spanish-American Institute of International Education (SAIIE) offers study abroad programs for college students from all over the USA, including the study abroad program for University of Wisconsin-Platteville. We offer 3 semester programs: Fall, Spring and Summer. Seville is located in the community of Andalusia in south-western Spain and is only 1 hour from Madrid and Barcelona by air. No prior knowledge of Spanish is required. Students study Spanish Language on the appropriate level and take the remainder of their courses in Spanish or in English, depending on their level of fluency.

SAIIE´s academic programs offer a personalized intercultural learning experience in a fully integrated Spanish-speaking environment. On all of our programs we strive for excellence in academics, cultural immersion, and social integration. Our goal is to help students to fulfill their potential, acquire knowledge, understand a new culture, and gain independence. We believe in continuous improvement and learning in a culturally diverse world. 

Semester programs include:
- Spanish language courses for all levels (Beginner to Advanced)
- Intensive Spanish Language Track: Designed for students on the beginner and intermediate levels who want to focus solely on the acquisition of Spanish. 
- Spanish tutoring and Spanish conversation classes offered every day
- Intercambio (conversation) partnerships with native speakers of Spanish
- Liberal arts courses in English and in Spanish
- International Business Track: offered in English 
- An extensive program of field trips and cultural visits
- Volunteer opportunities
- Homestay accommodation with Spanish host families

All students are placed with carefully-screened Spanish host families, usually in pairs. Living in a Spanish home is one of the most important aspects of your intercultural experience because it helps to improve your language skills and increase your cultural awareness, two key goals of the program. Your host family will provide you with breakfast and mid-day meals Monday through Friday and evening meals Sunday through Thursday. Each student is allowed 2 loads of laundry per week.

Seville:
Seville is truly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. With a population of 750,000, it is the ideal place for a study abroad program. It is located in south-western Spain in the community of Andalusia and is recognised as the most important historic, cultural, artistic, and financial center in the south of Spain. Seville Airport is an international airport with regular flights to and from a range of major European cities. Seville is only 1 hour from Barcelona and Madrid by air.
