What is Distance Learning?
Distance learning offers the flexibility for participants to study at any time and anywhere, whether in Ireland or abroad. This programme has a flexible design to accommodate professionals who wish to continue to pursue their career goals while studying part-time. For each module you will receive a comprehensive study guide and textbook which will provide you with a map through each module. In addition to this, we encourage and facilitate the formation of regional study groups. Studying with your classmates provides a great source of encouragement and support along the way.
Centre for Distance Learning:
The Centre for Distance Learning was established by the School of Business in December 2002. The Centre has responsibility for the management of the School’s distance learning programmes and its international programmes in Hong Kong, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
A key feature of the distance learning programmes offered is the learner support provided by the Centre for students completing these programmes. The Centre prides itself on this feature of its programmes and on its high student completion rates. The CDL was recently given a special commendation by AONTAS (the National Adult Learning Organisation) in recognition of its Adult Learner Support Framework in place on its local Diploma and Bachelor of Business Studies programmes. The award was presented to the programme at a ceremony in Dublin Castle on 4th February 2008.

A Computer Reservations System (CRS) is a computerized system used by airlines and travel agents to conduct transactions related to travel, such as airline reservations, car rental, and booking of train travel, cruises, and hotel rooms. A CRS that book and sell tickets for multiple airlines are also known as Global Distribution Systems (GDS).
Some of the most widely-used CRS systems include Amadeus, Galileo (known as Apollo in North America and Japan), Sabre and Worldspan. Users of CRS systems include airlines, travel agencies, hotels, ferry and cruise lines, tour operators, insurers, car rental and railway companies, and individual travellers directly.
Knowledge of a CRS system definitely gives students in the travel and tourism field a distinct advantage over other applicants.
