Curtin Business School located in Perth, Western Australia is recognised nationally and internationally for excellence in education and research. The Centre for Entrepreneurship was established in 1995 to provide business development programs for owner-managers of small to medium enterprises. It is the only facility of its kind in Australia. All programs are based on sound research and the premise that theory must be applicable in practice! Students study a foundation in business, followed by a series of units that develop skills, knowledge and expertise in developing, managing and growing an entrepreneurial venture. Students have opportunities to interact with entrepreneurs and to obtain real-life practical perspectives and experiences in the exciting world of entrepreneurship. Since 1995 the Unit has trained approximately 4000 owners of businesses in WA. Instruction in the courses is primarily from private sector consultants who run their own organisations, but also Curtin Business School academics.
