Loretto School:
The School is set in a historical campus in the small coastal town of Musselburgh in the outskirts of Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh. It provides an all-round boarding and day education for just over 530 boys and girls including boarders, flexi-boarders and day pupils. Our school is made up of two parts - the Junior School (3-12 years) and the Senior School (aged 12 and over).
Loretto is well known for its relaxed family atmosphere, traditional values and emphasis on the development of the whole person, mind, body and spirit, through academic study, the arts, extra-curricular and sporting activities.
The School responds to the demands of a changing world beyond school by preparing boys and girls for a life of personal fulfilment, leadership and service. Academic achievement is foremost amongst the School's goals which also promote independent thinking, respect for others, creativity and responsibility in all areas of school life.
By Road: Situated on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth and convenient to the M8 motorway, Musselburgh can be easily reached from all parts of Scotland and the UK.
From the M8 (South and West) or M9 (North) look for the A720 (Edinburgh Bypass) heading south: Follow the Bypass towards North Berwick and take the Musselburgh exit at the junction with the A1. From this point follow the signs to the Race Course and Musselburgh Old Links. The Senior School is located at the eastern end of the High Street (A199) adjacent to the Race Course entrance.
From the A1 (South) take the Musselburgh Exit: Follow the signs to the Race Course, the entrance to the Senior School is adjacent to the Race Course entrance.
The Junior School is located on the western bank of the River Esk. Follow the High Street (A199) in the direction of Portobello and Edinburgh, turn right at the Brunton Hall. This road curves to the right and the entrance to the Junior School is on your left as you approach the river.
