German Language Lessons for Kids & Adults in NY

Deutsches Haus at NYU:
Deutsches Haus is a non-profit organization and operates under the umbrella of the Faculty of Arts and Science of New York University; since 1977 its university affiliation has provided a solid academic basis. We offer German Language Courses for children and adults and are operating as the official Language program of the Goethe-Institut New York, as well as its official examination center. Our children's classes cater to both bilingual German children as well as beginners, Pre-K through age 10. Adults may register for courses in all language levels from beginner through very proficient.

The Language Program at Deutsches Haus operates on a quarterly schedule. Each quarter lasts 10 weeks except for the summer quarter in which we offer two 5-week intensive programs which begin in mid-June and mid-July.

Language program offerings include standard group classes at all learning levels as Regular and Intensive Courses, as well as Special courses and Immersion Weekends. Our Children's Language Program is very sucessful as well. We also focus on private instruction and corporate on-site instruction, as well as language exams. Currently we offer ca. 30 courses for adults and 7 classes for children in each term.

- Regular courses cover one level and meet once per week for 2h 30min or twice per week for 1h 15min each time (total of 25 hours per course).
- Intensive courses cover two levels and meet twice per week. Class length is 2h 30min (total of 50 hours per course).
- Special courses are topic-related and meet once per week. Class length is 2 hours (total of 20 hours per course).
- Immersion weekends are also topic-related and meet on Saturday and Sunday. Class length and start time varies (total of 10 hours per course).
