Educational Programs (Preschool through Grade 8) 

Preschool Program:

We provide a safe and secure environment in which to introduce each child into a school setting. Our Preschool and Junior Kindergarten programs concentrate on building social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual growth of students. Through a combined academic and developmental curriculum, we provide a nurturing environment in which children learn and develop a sense of community and belonging.

Our curriculum is designed to prepare children for St. Mary’s full-day Kindergarten program. As an International Baccalaureate World School, our curriculum is based around the Primary Years Programme of the IB Programme and is presented in an inquiry-based environment. Elementary School Program:

Middle School Program:
The Middle School grades prepare students to meet the demands of the world while living by the guidelines of respect and responsibility.

The Middle School, Grades Six through Eight, pursues a rigorous academic program in a positive, supportive environment. Students are expected to advance intellectually as they acquire skills and knowledge and learn to relate the content of the classroom to the realities of the world. The students assume increased responsibility for their learning and take pride in their accomplishments.

Our middle years Program encourages students of this age group to think critically and independently, to work collaboratively and to take a disciplined approach to studying. Through the International Baccalaureate Organization, we have developed an approach to learning that seeks to teach students how to analyze information, how to develop, organize and present their ideas. These programs are applied to all the major disciplines.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme:
St. Mary’s choice of the International Baccalaureate curriculum is indicative of the high value we place on academic excellence. St. Mary’s is proud to be affiliated with the International Baccalaureate Organization whose principles are seamlessly woven into our curriculum. The Primary Years Programme (for students three years of age through grade five) and Middle Years Program (for our students in grades six through eight, with coordinating programs available in high school) both emphasize the dynamic combination of knowledge, skills, independent critical thought, and the appreciation for the richness of life through international awareness.

Visual and Performing Arts:

Geokids / Menlo Survey Child Development Center

The GeoKids / Menlo Survey Child Development Center is an accredited, nationally recognized, non-profit parent co-operative providing high quality child care for children aged 3 months through to pre-kindergarten (5 years). The center is located on the Menlo Park, CA campus of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in San Mateo County, and is supported in part by the General Services Administration (GSA) and the USGS.

GeoKids is a developmental play-based program founded on the belief that children are capable, competent, self-motivated learners. Within our program, adults encourage children to participate in everything that concerns them and to do as much as they are capable of doing for themselves.

GeoKids is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, which encourages children's intellectual development through systematic focus on symbolic representation, as children are encouraged to explore their environment and express themselves through words, movement, drawing, painting, playing, and other natural modes of expression.
