Our Director:
Selma Lan is the founder and director of Marvelous Mandarin. Selma was born in the Chinese city of Yichang on the Yangtze River bank to a traditional Chinese family. At age 21, Selma obtained a Bachelor's Degree of Arts from one of China's top universities for language studies with a major in linguistics and a minor in journalism (broadcasting and hosting).
A couple years later she was awarded a Master's Degree of Education. She also holds the Certificate of Putonghua (Mandarin) proficiency Level A1 (a qualification Chinese TV anchors must have) and an Advanced Teacher's Certificate from Trinity College London.
Selma's passion and dedication for teaching has transformed the lives of hundreds of students over the past 6 years. She has taught Chinese to westerners, as well as English to Chinese students (including some of China's national Olympic teams) with immense success and awards of recognition.

• Due to the current public health crisis, we are now offering ONLINE English classes for Houston, Texas and nation-wide kids and adults via Zoom video conferencing (Our students love it!).• Give your child or teenager a head-start by enrolling them in the English classes offered by Crossing Borders in Katy, just west of Houston, Texas.
• We provide a range of ESL (English as a Second Language) programs designed for local students and international students. We offer after-school English classes for kids at elementary, middle and high school level.
• In addition, we offer winter and summer English camps for local and international students that can be booked from 2 to 6 weeks. Private English tutoring for high school students is also available.
