Our Mission:

Photo of Catholic Day & Boarding School in Nebraska for BoysMount Michael Benedictine School is a Catholic college preparatory residential and day school for young men committed to academic excellence.

The school’s mission is to integrate a life of spirituality, scholarship, and the formation of Christian Community by following the charism of the Gospels and the Rule of St. Benedict.

Our Philosophy:
Mount Michael Benedictine School continues the educational tradition established by the monks of Mount Michael Abbey in 1956. Since the sixth century, followers of St. Benedict have lived the monastic life of worship and work, seeking to integrate a life of spirituality, scholarship, and the formation of Christian community.

At Mount Michael the Benedictine tradition embodies a fundamental respect for learning and the intellectual and spiritual quest for truth in a family-like setting. It encourages individuals to reach for excellence within a community that embraces academic, social and spiritual values.

At Mount Michael the core of the academic program is a college-preparatory curriculum. This enables the students to become inquiring learners, appreciative of their heritage, responsive and committed to the challenges of the future.

Boarding and Day Programs for Boys in Grades 9-12:

While our programs - academic, athletic, artistic - provide a framework for comparing Mount Michael with other schools, what really sets our school apart is its ability to reinforce the character traits our families seek to instill in their sons.

The small size of our community strengthens student bonds, so that they learn to support and encourage friends with varying interests and abilities.

Programs include:
- Full boarding (including weekend) and weekly boarding options
- Rigorous College Preparatory Curriculum with math, science, English, social studies and theology
- Advanced Placement Courses
- College Preparation Courses SAT and ACT
- Athletics Program
- International Students welcome

Boarding Life:

Mount Michael's five-day boarding programming is often referred to as "the best of both worlds". Students enjoy the fun of dorm life during the week and the comfort and closeness of being with their families every weekend. By living together during the week, students form a close-knit community. Because they have time to spend together, students learn a lot about their classmates. We also offer a seven day boarding program for international students.

A main component of the boarding program is the evening study hall from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. In order to help the student succeed academically at Mount Michael, families are encouraged to duplicate this study hall in their homes.

Activities:

School work is not the only area in which young men must learn and grow, however. We offer complete programs in athletics and in the performing arts in order to augment the learning that our students do inside the classroom.

Our small size allows each student to participate in a broader range of activities than he might find at a larger school - indeed, our ability to offer such a wide spectrum of activities speaks to the kind of student who chooses Mount Michael, since we could not sustain them without the enthusiastic support of our student body.
