Located in West Branch, Cedar County in southeast Iowa, Scattergood Friends School co-educational boarding and day school has provided students in Grades 9-12 with a college preparatory education with AP courses, SAT and ACT, since 1890.

Scattergood is located about four hours from Chicago and Omaha; five hours from Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Kansas City, and St. Louis; and seven to ten hours from Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Detroit.


Location and Facilities:

 

The school's 140-acre campus is located twelve miles east of Iowa City and consists of a 27-acre main campus and a 48-acre pond and prairie nature preserve. The 65-acre farm includes an organic vegetable garden, beehive and livestock.

The main campus includes several buildings with a library, classrooms, darkroom facilities, a wood shop, science laboratories, and an art building with ceramics, stained glass and drawing studios. The entire campus is connected to a high-speed wireless connection which allows students to carry their school-issued laptops to almost any location on campus and work on school assignments or check their email.

Boarding:
Scattergood’s unique status as a boarding school allows a students to gain experience in many areas. We provide five day and full boarding (including weekends) options. Students share dorms in groups of 25, hang out in the dorm or student lounge, and spend time with their roommates.

In the course of one weekday, a student will sit quietly in Collection, attend classes, be part of a cooperative work crew, exercise their creativity in an art project, take part in physical education, eat meals with their friends and teachers, prepare for their next day's classes etc.

In addition to this, some days offer student or community meetings and special events such as presentations from visitors. Flowing through all these activities is the sense of community that comes from living and learning together.

We also provide a GED program, and college courses.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.
Nebraska Christian Schools

Nebraska Christian School (NCS) is an inter-denominational, Christian boarding and day school located west of Omaha in Central City, Merrick County, Nebraska.

NCS offers a full educational program for preschool- Grade 12 with boarding from Grades 7-12. We focus on providing a college preparatory curriculum with AP courses, ACT and SAT and a program of extra-curricular activities and student services.

Additionally, we offer vocational classes such as family & consumer science and industrial arts as well as ESL programs for our international students. We run a four day school week with the fifth day used for special programs, tutoring, study time and trips.

Change Academy Lake of the Ozarks

Change Academy Lake of the Ozarks (CALO), located in Lake Ozark, Missouri, is a specialized adolescent residential treatment setting for boys & girls (ages 12-18). At CALO, we with work a small window of student issues focusing specifically on issues of emotion, attachment and trauma.

At CALO, relationships are the primary change agent. All treatment is connected to and motivated by relationships. Relationships with family, CALO staff, and CALO peers are what drive change.
