In the French Curriculum (state funded), French is the main language of education and English is taught in ability groups. The International Curricula (British, American and IB) feature English as the main language of education and daily French classes are taught in ability groups.
Furthermore, EaB offers Immersion Classes to foreign students who would like to integrate the French Curriculum and learn French intensively. From Pre-School to High School, you can choose the ideal programme for your children!
British, American and IB Programmes:
As a top international school in Paris, EaB offers the British, American and IB Diploma programmes taught in English and accredited by the most reputable international authorities in education. Featured at EaB - The Victor Hugo School, these international programmes are an ideal academic option for students who want to pursue their studies in English and at the same time benefit from daily French classes as well as activities taught in French.
Pre-School and Primary:
From Nursery to Grade 5, EaB offers the Cambridge accredited British Curriculum. In this programme, groups are small and English is the main language of education. Students also learn French on a daily basis. They are encouraged to speak and practice this language during arts, music and sports classes.
Junior High School:
The Junior High School corresponds to Grades 6 through 8. Students usually start it at 11 years old. As it makes the link between the Primary and Senior High School, it is a delicate moment in each student's academic life, where special monitoring is essential. At EaB, effective measures are implemented to ensure students a balanced environment and individualised attention to academic development.
High School:
The High School comprises grades 9 through 12. For grades 9 and 10, students follow a prescribed curriculum with required subjects in key academic areas and several options. Most grade 10 subjects lead to the official Cambridge IGCSE examinations. In grade 11 students have the option, depending on academic eligibility, to enter the IB Diploma Programme or complete the International High School Diploma.
Courses in grades 11 and 12 of the High School Diploma programme are assessed internally but can prepare students for Cambridge IGCSE, College Board AP and Edexcel A-Level examinations. The High School Diploma programme is supplemented by compulsory enrichment courses in Spanish, computer science, art and sports.
IB Diploma Programme:
The International Baccalaureate Organization's Diploma Programme is a rigorous two-year course of study for students between the ages of 16 and 19. Students are required to take six academic subjects, plus ‘Theory of Knowledge'; they are also required to write an ‘Extended Essay' on a subject of their own choice and to complete extra-curricular ‘Creativity, Action, and Service' activities. It is an outstanding pre-university programme that is recognised by universities through the world, including the most selective, because it espouses the best elements of several national systems without being based on any one.
The French Curriculum:
EaB is a private school under contract with the state, which means that the French national curriculum is respected. It also ensures the validity of all certificates and/or diplomas delivered by the school, in the French public system. The specificity of EaB is the early introduction of learning languages such as English and Spanish. Moreover, our students can study a non-linguistic subject in English. These aspects can lead to baccalaureats with European Mention and the International Option.
In the French Curriculum, French is the main language of education and English is taught in different ability groups, according to pupils' school level and specific needs. Therefore, candidates will always have an appropriate instruction in French and in English, regardless of the school level he or she applies to.
Extra-curricular Activities and Courses:
Our extra-curricular activities and courses welcome French and foreign participants, even if they are not EaB students. These activities are offered at our premises and are oragnized by the school's Development Direction. Participants can benefit from EaB's expertise in English instruction and in international education. Furthermore, EaB creates partnerships with different institutions and offer a large range of services to its community (teachers, students and their families).
