Korean Culture Program - Summer Language Immersion:
Headquartered in Seoul, with branches in several regional cities throughout Korea, LABO Korea is a non-profit youth organization that provides a cultural bridge between Korea and other countries. In 2008, LABO Korea developed KLCP (Korea Language & Culture Program), which is an exchange program for non-Korean students interested in spending their summer break in Korea. Our students study the Korean language, as well as gaining an authentic experience of Korean culture by staying with a Korean host family (homestay).
LABO Korea started as a non-profit organization for youth in 1973 and is currently registered with the National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea.
'LABO' stands for Language Laboratory!
All of LABO Korea programs are designed to provide wonderful and memorable cultural experiences, while learning the language of the host country. In 2003, LABO Korea was awarded the 'Most Outstanding Organization' award from the Korea Tourism Organization. It was also recognized again in 2005 by President Roh, Mu Hyun.
Cultural Exchange Summer Program in Korea:
- This is a unique exchange program for non-Korean students interested in spending their summer break in Korea
- Students study the Korean language and experience Korean culture by staying with a Korean host family (homestay)
- Our instructors use methods gained from 35 years of experience in language learning/culture
LABO Korea carries out research and development of multi-language activities which includes English, Japanese, and Chinese in regional communities and schools. Our programs include international home stay exchanges, youth friendship exchanges, a LABO camp, and multi-language activities.
We aim for our students to gain physical and mental training, develop international knowledge, and gain valuable leadership skills as they take on ambassador roles through our international culture exchange.
International Exchange Programs:
ABO members have an opportunity to learn and practice their language skills by visiting various countries including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and Japan. They experience every day lives of the local people and develop international relationships through language classes, home stays, and various events such as camping while in the foreign country. Students can participate in exchange programs during their school vacations, and adult members can participate at any time of the year.
As a member of the National Council of Youth Organizations, LABO KOREA began arranging and coordinating international home stays in 1976. Today LABO is the biggest and longest tenured home stay organization in Korea and continue to arrange home stay programs for visitors to Korea. To date, over 18,000 foreign visitors from over 30 countries have stayed with LABO Korean families.
4,000 families from all over Korea are available to host home stay participants as part of LABO's program. In order to become a home stay family with LABO, the host family is required to actively participate in the visit by offering more than just a place to stay but rather an opportunity for the visitor to become a member of the host family.
Through this unique opportunity, foreign visitors will have a chance to interact with and learn about Korean language, culture, custom, and nationality. These experiences will broaden your knowledge and perspectives on other countries, cultures, and races. At the end of your visit, you will leave with many new memorable experiences and most importantly an everlasting friendship with your home stay family.
