Mandarin Chinese Classes for Kids in Mercer County, NJ
Yinghua Language School, Lawrenceville:
YingHua Language School is a non-profit organization located in Lawrenceville, Mercer County, New Jersey. Its founding principle is to build a language school that can commit to and focus on students' Chinese language education so that its graduates truly gain solid language skills. To that end, we constantly look for ways to improve the quality of Chinese education for all students. Currently it is the only school in New Jersey that has fully adopted Dr. Liping Ma's "Direct Character Recognition" methodology. We teach the "modern" or simplified Chinese characters and introduce the Chinese phonetic system (PinYin) as a tool at the appropriate stage. YingHua Language School is proud to be the FIRST community-based language school accredited by CSS-MSA.
CHL Program - Chinese as a Heritage Language:
(Total 31 sessions, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays between September and June). For students who have a Mandarin Chinese-speaking environment at home.
Speaking Mandarin Chinese at home regularly is considered to be part of this curriculum. Some students can understand most of what is spoken in Chinese to them but prefer answering in English. We suggest that their parents continue speaking Chinese to the children and speaking Chinese among themselves in front of the children. Learn to paraphrase their words in Chinese as a way to confirm that you have heard what they've said in English. Persistence is the key.
CSL Program - Chinese as a Second Language:
(Total 31 sessions,
2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays between September and June). For students who do not have a Mandarin Chinese-speaking environment at home.
Parents should borrow audio/visual materials from YingHua Chinese Education Library as supplemental materials. Students, especially young students, should try to listen to Chinese tapes for at least 30 minutes daily for at least 3 months in order to get "an ear" for the four tones in Chinese pronunciation.
YingHua in Beijing - Study Abroad Programs:
Learning opportunities in Beijing, China. Summer Language & Leadership Institute is for youth ages 8-18. It runs 4-5 weeks in July and August. Honors Program is for Grades 4-9. It runs for 5 months for either the fall or the spring semester.
Others:
YingHua offers HSK/SAT II Chinese Prep Course in fall. Abacus Mental-Arithmetic, Chinese Art Workshop, the ancient board game Go, a performing class, and a few student clubs go on during the after-school hours. We offer AP Chinese Language & Culture. It will also offer preschool classes at The Harmony School at Princeton
Forrestal Village. Short-term Business Language Course for adults, etc. may be offered from time to time.

Located just 20 miles west of New York City, in Glen Ridge, Essex County NJ, Happy Mandarin Club is a Chinese language school that provides beginner to advanced level Mandarin Chinese classes for Pre-K to adult students. Courses include weekday and weekend General Chinese study options, Chinese test preparation (SAT & HSK exams), after-school enrichment programs, and online Mandarin classes conducted via WebEx.
Course contents include learning characters, phrases, and sentences; routine conversations; character writing, Chinese grammar; listening and reading comprehension practices; speaking exercises; and the Pinyin system (for ages 8+).
Our club teacher has years of experience in teaching Chinese to students of all levels. Being a native of Beijing, our teacher delivers the most authentic Chinese enunciation to our students.
