Beginner Chinese Classes in Essex County NJ
Happy Mandarin Club:
Located just 20 miles west of New York City, in Glen Ridge, Essex County NJ, Happy Mandarin Club is a Chinese language school that provides beginner to advanced level Mandarin Chinese classes for Pre-K to adult students. Courses include weekday and weekend General Chinese study options, Chinese test preparation (SAT & HSK exams), after-school enrichment programs, and online Mandarin classes conducted via WebEx. Our club teacher has years of experience in teaching Chinese to students of all levels.
Beginner to Advanced Level Mandarin Chinese Classes:
Pre-K to Adult learners welcome
Course contents include learning characters, phrases, and sentences; speaking exercises; routine conversations; character writing, Chinese grammar; listening and reading comprehension practices; and the Pinyin system (where the Chinese language is explained through the orthodox alphabet).
Students finish each lesson and homework assignment by following study guide weekly. Fun and interesting supplemental materials are also provided by club teacher as reinforcement.
Simplified Chinese is taught and used in all lessons. Traditional Chinese writing practice is also taught upon individual request.
General Chinese Lessons:
Duration: 8-12 weeks - in-person / private tutor

Chinese Exam Preparation (HSK Exam & SAT Chinese)
The HSK is the standard Chinese language proficiency test for non-native speakers. The test aims to be a certificate of language proficiency for higher educational and professional purposes.
The HSK test is simlar to the English TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), and a HSK certificate is valid anywhere in China (both mainland and Taiwan). There are six levels, and the test contains four parts: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Oral.
The SAT is a standardized test for college admissions in the United States. Our program sets up plans tailored for each individual student to improve dynamic Chinese language skills for success in both the SATs and HSK tests.
After-school Enrichment Programs:
Takes place at local public schools (Linden Discovery Series, Linden Avenue School, Glen Ridge, NJ).
Our club teacher has years of experience in teaching Chinese to students of all levels. Being a native of Beijing, our teacher delivers the most authentic Chinese enunciation to our students.
Online Mandarin Classes:
Duration: 8-12 weeks per session
Online classes are conducted via WebEx - a web conferencing program that combines file and presentation sharing with voice, audio, and HD video.
All class contents, including word files, audio files, images, slides, web links and videos, etc. are shared with club teacher’s desktop.
The HD video feature allows clear view and instant interaction between students and the teacher. Features include:
- Weekday, evening & weekend study options available
- 1 hour per lesson
- 1 lesson per week (2 and more lessons per week available upon request)
- Maximum 3 students per lesson
