Image of Freehand School of Art, Toronto Freehand School of Art, Toronto:
Conveniently located on Yonge Street in Toronto (6 blocks north of Lawrence on the East Side of the city), Freehand School of Art offers children and adults art courses and summer art immersion day camps for kids. Our aim is to engage our students with the world around them using eye, mind and hand. There is a fundamental drive in all of us to create. Young children naturally express what they see, think and feel though their artwork. Often, this natural process becomes inhibited as they grow up. We are committed to nurturing creativity in young children and re-igniting it in everyone else.

• At Keystone Toronto, students follow the Ontario curriculum, while learning key self-management skills needed for later success in higher education. Apart from the core curriculum subjects, students choose their electives based on their interests and potential career choices (with the aid of their parents, or guardians, teachers and guidance counselor).

Students are taught to be resourceful, to connect their learning to real-life issues, to organize tasks, and manage their time to meet deadlines.

• International students are placed in carefully selected homestays with a local family, with our student coordinator maintaining daily contact with the students and weekly contact with the families. Ikoma Abacus Learning, Vancouver BC
Courses / Programs
The abacus, that ancient, no-batteries-required, bead-based calculator, is making a comeback in after-school programs.

Efficient Brain
The course is about Abacus education. We use numbers 0-9 and the abacus as the prime tool to develop the mental abilities of the child. This is not a mathematics course! We are simply using the child’s ability to do mental arithmetic to increase the productivity of the brain and to enhance mind power.

Scientific analyses indicate abacus training can improve a child’s ability to:

concentrate
visualize
memorize
observe,
and process information.

But how can it accomplish all that, and so much more?

Our brain has two hemispheres, the left brain and the right brain. About 95% of our children use only the left brain, which provides the ability to analyze information concerning languages and sound. But the right side of the brain, which is focused on thinking, creativity and integration of information, needs to be used and stimulated as well.

Learning to use the abacus can help develop this right brain/left brain integration.

e2-e4! Chess for Kids
Courses / Programs
e2-e4! Chess for Kids is a private company located in Vancouver, BC, whose purpose is teaching chess to children and to all who wish to comprehend the secrets of the world's most popular intellectual game. Our chess lessons can be taught through English and / or Russian. We have various locations throughout the Metro Vancouver Area in Richmond, Burnaby and Vancouver. We offer group and individual chess lessons with teachers who have years of experience teaching.

Chess is a board game and mental sport for two players. It is played on a square board of 8 rows and 8 columns, giving 64 squares of alternating colour, light and dark.

There are many benefits of learning chess. A child learns to think independently and make decisions. Even the simplest solution (which figure to make a move), teach the children independence and responsibility. While studying chess, the child learns to focus on one process. It produces perseverance. The child develops spatial imagination and creativity skills.
