St. Benedict Catholic Elementary School, Chicago:
Located in Blue Island, a south suburb of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, St. Benedict Elementary School is a private, co-educational, Catholic school, serving 178 students in grades PK-8. St. Benedict School fosters a learning climate within our school conducive to academic excellence and spiritual maturity. This helps to develop the children into thinking, problem-solving adults. As a parochial school in the Archdiocese of Chicago, we encourage our students to develop their individual gifts and talents and we provide the tools to do so though our gifted education curriculum. This includes a creative art program and access to a resource room with accelerated reading and math.

- Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5:
All grades P-5 have in-class differentiation facilitation for identified gifted students. The pull out groupings are designed to enhance the regular classroom curriculum in grades K-5. Activities vary and include subject areas of language arts, math, science, social studies and art. The program focuses on reading, writing, listening and speaking. Higher level thinking is incorporated into all activities.
- Grades 6-8 Program:
Gifted services continue in grades 6-8. Departmental teachers provide differentiation and curriculum compacting strategies for gifted students. Both can be used successfully in heterogeneous classrooms and with almost any subject matter. Compacting allows teachers to use pre-testing to move gifted students through material they already know and on to curriculum extensions that interest them and still meet academic standards.
Curriculum extensions are a form of differentiation and accommodate gifted students' ability to learn new material at a much faster rate than their peers as well as allowing them to pursue their interests within a unit of study. Study guides are used. The gifted coordinator consults and plans with classroom teachers at all grade levels.

Kids Connection Preschool, located in Joliet in Will and Kendall Counties, Illinois (40 miles south-west of Chicago), is a Preschool offering education programs to children ages 3, 4 and 5 years. Classes are structured with the same age groupings as the public school classes. The activities and materials of the classes are geared toward the interests and abilities of children their age. Care is taken to avoid pressure, but time for individual growth is provided through free play choices, small group activities and one-on-one attention.
