Blessed Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic School, Scottsdale:
Located just north of Phoenix in Scottsdale, Maricopa County, Arizona, Blessed Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic School is a private co-educational Catholic school for grades kindergarten through 8th grade. Pope John XXIII School is the largest Catholic K-8 elementary school in Arizona. PJXXIII has a solid academic program including instruction in mathematics, Language Arts, science, social studies, computers, physical education, Spanish, and an integrated Fine Arts program. We also offer before and after school care, an explorers program with research-based assessments, progress monitoring, enrichment with topics of interest and a technology program.

Academics:
The Diocese of Phoenix Curriculum Guidelines integrate state and national standards and are the foundation for all lessons. There is no perfect curriculum, but when the critical parts of an evidence based program are implemented with fidelity, focused on hight priority standards or curriculum guidelines, and delivered with best practices or strategies and a positive approach to learning, amazing progress happens!
PJXXIII has a solid academic program including instruction in religion, mathematics, language arts, reading, science, social studies, technology, physical education, Spanish, library/research skills and an integrated fine arts program.
We aim to provide a positive, challenging, academic environment using explicit, direct instruction while taking lessons to higher level applications to stimulate critical thinking. Lessons balance whole group, small group, and individualized instruction in efforts to meet the needs of all learners. Our Catholic Faith is integrated throughout every curricular area.
Before and After School Extended Care:
We provide morning and after care (until 6:00 p.m. on school days) services. Explorers Program:We aim to help every child reach their God given potential, and that looks different for all learners. We meet the needs of all learners through research-based assessments, progress monitoring and curriculum measures at every grade level. Our goal is to help all children feel successful and make progress.
Enrichment Program:
Pope John XXIII has added a variety of creative elective courses to enrich our school curriculum. The courses are interest-based and will foster higher-level applications in critical thinking, global learning, and foster ingenuity.
Technology:
Innovative and engaging technology is integrated using a state of the art computer lab, software, video clips, online research, digital photography to prepare students for the future. Modern classroom facilities include SmartBoards which support student engagement.
Athletics and Activities:
Student activities for boys and girls include sports (basketball, volleyball, flag football, baseball and softball), chorus, student council and Boy/Girl Scouts. Our major schoolwide events of the year are Harvest Festival (October), Christmas Pageant (December), Talent Show (February) and Field Day (May).
