Hordle Walhampton School:
Located in Lymington, Hampshire on the south coast of England. Hordle Walhampton School is a forward-looking, independent boarding and day school for boys and girls from 2-13 years old. Day Programmes run for students from Nursery through Prep School, while our boarding programmes cater to children from ages 8-13. We offer flexible boarding arrangements to suit home and child.The boarding house is a home for our children for seven nights a week and this requires good facilities to ensure the home-from-home environment is maintained.

Co-educational Day & Boarding School Programmes for Students Ages 2-13:

Pre Prep School Programme (Ages 2-7)
A bright, spacious, purpose-built, self-contained Pre-Prep where children, aged two - seven years, can thrive, learn and achieve in our secure, stimulating environment. Caring, enthusiastic, well-qualified and committed staff provide a sound start in literacy and numeracy, as well as offering numerous exciting and creative activities to the boys & girls who are encouraged to develop socially and academically.

For younger children: Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception - an emphasis on learning through activity and play. For the older children: Years One and Two - a wide curriculum designed to promote individual achievement and to prepare them for entry to the Prep School. Activities include: Games, PE and Swimming; Music, Dance, Speech and Drama; Riding; French Club; After School Club

Prep School Programme  (Ages 8-13)
Hordle Walhampton is a forward-looking boarding and day school for boys and girls from two - 13 years old. It’s prncipal focus is to provide the best possible teaching. The skills of our teaching staff and small classes help to explain the impressive scholarship board and our consistently fine examination results.

In addition, through our breadth of education, we believe in helping each child to develop his or her own individuality and potential, whether it is in the academic, sporting or cultural life of the school. We therefore prepare each child for the demands and challenges of life ahead by providing opportunities to grow in self-reliance, self-discipline, confidence, Christian standards, responsibility and consideration for others.

Academics:
In the Prep School there are two classes per year group and, if numbers dictate, sometimes three. We look on 16 as the optimum number per class and numbers never rise above 20.  In Years Three, Four, and Five children are in forms of parallel ability but set for English and Maths. From Year Six the forms are streamed and children continue to be set in English and Maths.

Specialist teaching is introduced gradually but, in Year Three at least, most of the teaching is by the Form Teacher.  Children are prepared for 13+ Common Entrance and scholarships to senior Independent schools. However we are mindful that some children will leave at 11….and we prepare them for those exams, too.
