- Disciplined & Caring Environment
Aysgarth is a home to the boys for much of the year and the happy, disciplined and caring environment enables them to flourish. We are passionate about the benefits that boarding provides. Boys are introduced to a wide range of opportunities and encouraged to explore in a secure environment with their friends.

- Intensity of Ambtion
We believe that boarding provides tremendous benefits to those boys and parents who are willing to commit themselves to it. There is also an intensity of activity and ambition, which stimulates boys to be get involved, whether in the classroom, on the games pitches, in music, creative arts or in their ability to get along with others.

- Learning to Live With Other Boys
Recognizing the importance of sharing and compromising and the fulfillment of finding a niche can build a boy’s confidence and make him a better family member whilst parents are relieved of some of the nagging and much of the taxi driving. We do, however, encourage regular contact through visits, weekends out and through easy e-mail access.

- Day Students Integrated Into Boarding Community
We welcome day boys who will also benefit by being a part of this community and we hope that in time it may be possible for them to join the boarding community, though there is no compulsion to do so. There is also scope for a gradual build up to boarding.

- Amenities
The bedrooms, showers, washrooms and common rooms are modern and comfortable. Most importantly, the team of staff is enthusiastic about running many activities for boys in the evenings and at weekends, most of them within our beautiful 50-acre grounds. We hope that boys will want to board as they see the opportunities that it opens up and we make it easy to grow into boarding; it is possible to start as a day boy, a weekly boarder or a full boarder.

About Us:

Aysgarth Prep School was founded in 1877 as a boarding school to prepare boys to go on to public schools all over the country. This is still what we are today. We believe strongly in the value of boarding as a means of developing a boy in every respect - to be happy, confident, courteous, independent and ambitious. Employers today look for these characteristics as well as the academic excellence that we provide.

Located in the County of Kent, just east of London, Rochester Independent College (RIC) is a progressive alternative to conventional secondary education with a happily distinctive ethos.

Accepting day students from the age of 11 and boarders from 16, the focus is on exam success in a lively, supportive and informal atmosphere. Students are encouraged to be themselves and achieve exam results that often exceed their expectations.

The College has an atmosphere closer to university than school. About 65 of the College's 280 students are boarders. Our Halls combine the informality of a university residence with the supervision and pastoral support appropriate for young adults.

The College offers students the opportunity to thrive in an atmosphere of managed independence, and acts as a stepping stone between school and university.

Students who are 15 are considered if their 16th birthday falls within the first half term of the academic year. College accommodation is in either single or double rooms. All rooms have a direct telephone and internet connection.

RIC is accredited by the ISC (Independent Schools Council) and a member of the Independent Schools Association.
