Treatment & Care:

Provo Canyon School has earned a reputation for succeeding with adolescents who have strong potential but have experienced limited success in their families, schools and communities.

Many of our students have not done well in previous treatment settings. The continuum of care at Provo Canyon School includes individual, group, family and experiential therapy. A structured, therapeutic living environment and fully accredited academic program are provided. A drug and alcohol program serves the special needs of adolescents with substance abuse and addiction problems.

All of our teachers are special education certified and capable of working with students who have a myriad of behavioral and clinical issues, as well as learning differences. We have two full-time learning specialists who work with our students and their Individual Education Plans. Provo Canyon School also makes every effort to keep in touch with the child study teams from the sending school districts of students as they progress through the program.

Residential Programs for 7-12th Graders:

Photo of Youth Treatment Center in UtahAcademic programs for 7th to 12th Graders. Our students are generally of average to well above average intelligence.

Our fully accredited program and small class sizes are designed to meet each child's individual needs and to facilitate the ability to work with learning differences. We offer comprehensive academic programs with over 140 different academic classes taught within an 8:1 ratio.

Early Adolescent Program:
We offer a special program designed to meet the unique developmental needs of boys ages twelve to fourteen. A self-contained unit and program is provided for these early adolescents.

Staffing ratios are higher, allowing these students to receive increased individual attention. Many of these boys are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. The program is designed to address accompanying emotional, behavioral and academic challenges these boys face.

Facility:

We have a 242-bed facility with two different campus sites for boys and girls. Provo is the location of the boy's campus; the girl's campus is situated at Orem. We provide services to students who are between the ages of 11 and 17 years of age (7th to 12th graders) with a variety of different clinical needs.

The average length of stay for a Provo Canyon School student is 10 months, however this can vary considerably depending on the clinical issues of the student. At the completion of most students' time at Provo Canyon, students transition to a less structured environment where they can continue to build upon the success they have experienced at Provo Canyon.

Many of our graduates continue their educations in colleges and universities. We believe that students should leave Provo Canyon School with the social and academic skills necessary for them to assume responsible roles in society.
