Harvest Christian School International:
Located in 24-B Tres Borces Street, Mabolo in the centre of Cebu City, Philippines, Harvest Christian School International (HCSI) provides personalized instructions in its Regular Basic Education Progams from Pre-School to High School Education to a limited number of students (20:1 Student to Teacher ratio) using Internationally recognized curriculum and materials. It provides a home/family environment within the school which makes the students feel at home.
ESL (English as a Second Language) Courses
ESL is a course designed for students learning English as a Second Language preferably to non-native English speakers such as Koreans, Japanese, Taiwanese, Chinese, Thais, Mongolians, Arabs and other nationalities including Filipinos. Students are diagnosed at the start of the course as to their comprehension and reading level. The school uses a combination of American, Canadian, British and Filipino ESL curriculum and materials. It offers various ESL levels namely: LOW BEGINNER, HIGH BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED.
The school provides Homestay Accommodation to its ESL students.
SELIP (Special English Language Immersion Program) Course
SPECIAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE IMMERSION PROGRAM (SELIP) is a program designed by the school to immerse the English Language Learners (ELL) or ESL students to the school's regular program. It is a continuing program wherein the learners are placed in the Regular Basic Education program in a level he/she can tackle. The learners join with the regular students to study various subjects in Science, Math, Social Studies or other subjects in English to immerse themselves and practice what they have learned in the ESL courses. This immersion program is so effective that the learners build their vocabulary, grammar and speaking skills faster than in a normal ESL class. The school's SELIP course is also a PREPARATORY PROGRAM OR BRIDGE PROGRAM for Non-native English speaking students gain entrance to its REGULAR BASIC EDUCATION COURSES.
TESOL/TEFL Certificate Course (Onsite and Online/Distance Learning)
The TESOL/TEFL Certificate Course of HCSI is a 120-hour course. It is designed to develop the teaching skills of the participant-student. It has two (2) main components: language skills and teaching skills.
The school has adopted two (2) types of TESOL/TEFL training: the on-site training and the online/distance course training. On-site trainings are conducted in the premises of Harvest Christian School International (HCSI) in Cebu City, Philippines while the online/distance training is done at the home or workplace of the student at his/her own pace. The online/distance training is offered because of the difficulty of some participants to attend and complete the course in an on-site environment as most of them are working professionals. Enrollment in the online/distance course training is anytime during the year. After completing all course module requirements, the participant-student will then be given a TESOL Certificate by Harvest Christian School International (HCSI) either in the school or in the mail.
