Fire Tech Camp:
Fire Tech Camp provide technology-based holiday camps, workshops and weekend courses for kids and teens ages 9-17. Campers spend time gaining incredible tech skills, making new friends, stretching their horizons, and enjoying the support of a world-class team. Our educational approach puts children in control as they take ownership of original project work while being mentored in a fun and collaborative environment. Whether designing an app, programming a robot, creating wearable tech or mixing new music, campers are given important and creative new skills so that they can make the future.
Technology-Based Holiday Camps for Kids & Teens (ages 9-17)
Video Game Design (ages 9-12)
Conceive of and build your very own video game while gaining an understanding of the user experience, different functions and designing a virtual world.
Robotics with LEGO Mindstorms (ages 9-12)
Create and programme robots using LEGO's fun and inventive tools.
Mobile App Design (ages 9-12)
Develop an app that can be used on smartphones and tablets.
Minecraft Maker (ages 9-12)
A fun and absorbing way into the world of making, using one of the most popular games on the planet - Minecraft! Campers will learn mapping and 3D-design techniques, gain a basic understanding in circuitry and even create their own game controller.
World Building with Minecraft (ages 9+)The incredible force of Minecraft is given a boost in this course which focused on 2D and 3D design and mapping techniques, which will enable enthusiastic gamers to build complex structures and take their own Minecraft world to another level.
Minecraft Redstone (ages 9+)
Unlock the "electricity" of the Minecraft universe - Redstone - in a workshop which provides a fascinating introduction to circuitry and traps, enabling students to successfully master these tools and develop their creativity within the endlessly fun world of Minecraft.
Game Prototyping (ages 10+)
Design and manufacture a mini desktop game in this extended making workshop that uses 3D printing.
Introduction to 3D Printing (ages 10+)
Learn computer-aided design and manufacture techniques to create and 3D-print a custom object, e.g. jewellery charm, figurine, Minecraft model, keyring.
CAD/CAM with Vinyl Cutting (ages 10+)
Using cutting-edge technologies, craft unusual 2D prototypes in the form of vinyl stickers that you can then use to personalise your phone or other devices.
Rapid Prototyping and 3D Printing: An Introduction to Making (ages 10+, run as separate junior and senior camps)
A unique course at the very forefront of the Maker Movement, campers are taken through a crash course in computer-aided design and manufacturing and get their hands dirty with silcone molding and prototyping. Using a variety of materials and equipment, including 3D printers, campers will come away with their own wearable tech and other rapidly-prototyped products.
Senior Robotics with VEX IQ (ages 12+)Designing and programming robotics at a competitive level while acquiring coding skills in the language ROBOTC.
Web Development with HTML and CSS (ages 12+)
Design websites the way the pros do it, writing in HTML and CSS.
Coding Games with Java (ages 12+)
Get to grips with Java, one of the most widely-used programming languages, through the medium of game design and creation.
Coding Electronics and Python with Minecraft (ages 12+)
This course uses the enticing world of Minecraft to throw campers into the nitty gritty of computer science and electronics. They will use code to create their own mini games and Minecraft servers and use electronics with Arduino to build their own custom game controller.
Digital Music Production (ages 12+)
This is a chance for students to discover their inner music producer while mixing tracks, creating their own sounds and even building their own instruments with the help of some clever technology. Software and equipment used includes Ableton Live, Makey Makeys and Bare Conductive Electronic Paints.
Digital Photography and Editing with Photoshop (ages 12+)
A course designed to turn beginner photographers into experts with their DSLRs. The course explores the different functions available to the photographer, working with light and preparing a good shot. Campers will also edit their work using Photoshop and learn about some of the best options for publication and sharing.
Teen Hardware and Physical Computing with Arduino (ages 12+)
Get wired up to the Internet of Things in this hands-on introduction to electronics, which enables students to use an Arduino - an accessible microcomputer - to programme all sorts of different robots, gadgets and sensors.
Physical Computing with Arduino II (ages 12+)Taking those already familiar with Arduino one step further with a hands-on exploration of the different sensors and inputs available and tips for mastering how to control them.
Teen Coding with Python (ages 14+)
Understand the fundamentals of the Python programming language, the leading coding language taught in senior schools and universities, and use it to solve practical problems.
Teen Coding with Python II (ages 14+)
A more advanced look at Python operators and techniques for those already familiar with the basics.
